...but I can't listen to it until I get home tonight. Grr! Has anyone bought it yet? I would love to hear thoughts on it as a whole.

One word:

brilliant.

All the versions released on the internet are old cuts...this album flows perfectly, and is easily some of the best "pop" music of the last few decades.

I have to wait until after work to get it and I am not too happy about it at all.

She is performing live and signing copies of the album at the Tower Records in West Hollywood, but admittance is limited and there is no way I'd be able to get there and line up in time.

I'm rather bummed as I'd love to see it.

I'm listening to it right now on aol. I agree, it's amazing. It's not commercial, which to me, is a good thing. Hopefully, people will buy it. It'll be the first cd I've bought in months, not counting cast recordings.

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be enbered with your old nonsense. ~ Emerson

I still prefer the leaked recordings over most of the revised versions, but new Fiona is still new Fiona, so woo hoo!

See, I felt like the leaked ones were a little over-produced and unnatural. These cuts I find perfect in their balance.

Interesting, touchme, because I find a lot of the revised tracks overproduced. Different strokes, I guess. Don't get me wrong, I still like the released album, but I feel like it lost a lot of its whimsy and humor with the direction she went. The leaked tracks had a sort of a nightclub act gone mad feel, which I loved.

And, oh how I miss all those crazy strings in "Not About Love."

I do agree about the strings in "Not About Love"...I htink the direction they went on that track was a bit off.

however, I think overall the CD seems classier now instead of crazy and manic. Which, I guess, given the craziness that is Fiona may have been better suited to her.

Well, I think you are and I are just going to have to agree to disagree on this one, as I quite prefer the crazy and manic, but that says more about me than it does about Fiona. re: I got the new Fiona Apple...

I've just started the new album over again, giving it another chance. At any rate, I hope it's a success for her, and that she gets her as on a tour that comes somewhere near me.

The new Liz Phair also came out today, but I can't bring myself to listen to it yet.

My love for Liz goes back farther than even my love of Fiona, but her last album was all over the place.

Liz's last CD was all over the place, but I couldn't help but love it anyway. Especially HWC. Just totally cracked me up. I love to crank that and dance around in my underwear while I sing into a hairbrush. I love that she's got this happy little head-bopping beat under those raunchy lyrics. Brilliant!

It's certainly her best album to date. I adore her voice.

I love it, but I agree with Kringas that some of the new versions sound overproduced. One was even speeded up a bit which I didn't like. I listened to them side by side last night. Some were better reworked IMO, and some not.

She's no Ruthie Henshell but she sure can write a song, play it and co-produce it!!

I finally got to spend some quality time with Fiona last night and this CD is so satisfying. She still sounds like Fiona, but she also sounds more much mature. (That "mature" is typed in the nicest possible way.) "Get Him Back" is incredibly catchy and I love "Window." I am not disappointed at all in this and I think it was absolutely worth all the waiting.

Has anyone watched the DVD side yet?

The DVD is awesome. She performs Extraordinary Machine, Paper Bag, and Fast as You Can with just her and a guitar. Amazing.
