Trying to search, no luck, no time.

Is this a play or musical? Comedy or drama? Synopsis?

Thanks!

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Lend Me a Tenor is NOT a musical.

It's a farce with a little bit of music (opera, to be precise). If directed well, it's an absolute hoot.

Lend Me a Tenor is not a musical...it is a slapstick comedy. I was in it a few years ago...done right, it is a VERY funny show. It's almost in the style of "Noise's Off." Not the story...but the way it's acted. I played the Bellhop...a very funny featured role. It's written by Ken Ludwig, who also wrote the book to Crazy For You. At the end of the production the entire show is re-told in a seven minute sped thru while this opera music is playing in the background. It's a complicated story...but I'll try to find a good synopsis.

I saw this done here in san diego. it's a very funny slapstick farce that employs a bit of opera music when needed... though the production I saw used pre-recorded tracks.

Usually I'm not so into farce, but this show is a hoot. I saw it on Broadway with Tovah Feldshuh, Philip Bosco, and Jane Connell. All wonderful.

I stage managed this show once and have seen two other productions. Very funny! Samuel French controls the rights to this show.

There's a hilarous clip with the always-great (not to mention incredibly hot) Victor Garber and Philip Bosco on the Plays collection of Broadway's Lost Treasures.

Yes and he was also Tony-nominated for the role and lost the award to Bosco.

It is my friend's absolute favorite play of all time, and she is actually directing a production of it later this year. I've never seen it, but it sounds hilarious.

I played Saunders in a high school production. So much fun. Although in response to FOANATIC's post, our "speed through" of the entire show was done in about 2 minutes as opposed to 7. Needless to say it got a little crazy.
