I saw Beckett Albee today. Was it John Simon who said "this stuff is the anithesis of life affirming." The Beckett first act which comprised of three monologues was hard for me to sit through. From the second of birth you are on your way to death isn't a fun afternoon for me.
The Albee second half was enjoyable and much lighter.
Marion Seldes and Brian Murray are both superb actors and I'm glad I had a chance to see them act together.

Larry Sacharow (the director) is one of my professors here at Fordham, I saw it when it was first in previews.

I really enjoyed the dichotomy between language in Beckett and Albee; Albee being the much lighter of the two, Beckett's being grossly intense to the point where you have to tune out for a moment or so. Marian Seldes and Brian Murray were both excellent and under very good direction, the execution is brilliantly done and was all in all a very enjoyable night at the theatre.

And thank goodness Counting the Ways was the second act.
