DD, you may be talking about the choral writing. i haven't seen or heard WICKED yet, but perhaps it doesn't have the opportunity for harmonic vocal writing that the earlier shows did.

Will: They don't give out awards for helping people be gay... unless you count the Tonys. "I guarantee that we'll have tough times. I guarantee that at some point one or both of us will want to get out. But I also guarantee that if I don't ask you to be mine, I'll regret it for the rest of my life..."

I saw Wicked in SF, and I honestly can only remember several of the songs in any detail. It was a fun, cute musical with wonderful sets, but I didn't find it all that... filling, if that's the right word.

So it has nothing to do with the book, then, because I would never use those words to describe WICKED's source material.

PEACE.

^ Well, the book and the musical are really entirely different, as far as I am concerned, besides surface details and character names. But there aren't really songs about committing terrorism to undermine a despotic government, that's for sure.

Alright, the biggest thing I dont understand about the people who post on the message board is how damn rude they are. We are all Bway fans, so why cant we get along? I am not saying by any means that we shouldnt debate but when peopl (ie MUSICMAN) rip people apart just for enjoying a show is beyond me. I loved "thoroughly Modern Millie" I had fun, I wasnt moved but I thought the performences and the music was great! And I did give a SO, but I wasnt just b/c I paid 100 to see it. I saw "Gypsy" that same day and wasnt a fan. I didnt give it a SO bc I dint feel it deserved one. Yet thats cool if someoen else likes it! How do people begin to think they have the right to try and belittle others on prefrences...

Oh, sweetie, just because I'm belittling a show doesn't mean I'm belittling you. If you have a countering argument, by all means, let's hear it. Otherwise, if you don't like my posts, don't read 'em.
'Nuff said.
