Thoughts? Feelings? How was your summer? Spend time at the beach? Get exercise? Read? Want me to stop asking questions?

I didn't do anything. I went to NYC for my birthday, but that was it. I recently started doing yoga with Denise Austin and that was fun. I barely went outside all summer, so I have no tan at all, but at least my skin is healthy. I watched a lot of bad TV and wasted a lot of days sitting in front of my computer. It makes me sad when I think about it, actually. Oh, well. My senior year started so I'm trying to make the best out of it because I'm really behind on the whole college prep. thing and I'd rather not think about that right now.

Yes it did. I didn't do much. I just read and hung out with my friends.

Just a little perspective: this whole 'summer' thing usually only exists while you're young. In the real world, summer days are usually the same as any other day - work, committments and sacrifice. I'd be grateful to have the experience again of just taking time away from the primary responsibilities of my life.

If you have frittered away this opportunity, you have no one to blame but yourselves. Too soon in life we learn what it is that has slipped through our fingers. Not that you can't always have the sense of freedom and choice in life - if you choose - but rarely is it gained so easily.

The summer ends and we wonder where we are
And there you go my friends with your boxes in your car
And you both look so young
And last night was hard you said
You packed up every room
And then you cried and went to bed
But today you closed the door and said
"We have to get a move on
It's just that time of year when we push ourselves ahead
We push ourselves ahead"
And it was cloudy in the morning
And it rained as you drove away
And the same things looked different
It's the end of the summer, it's the end of the summer
When you move to another place

And I feel like the neighbor's girl who will never be the same
She walked alone all spring
She had a boyfriend when the summer came
And he gave her flowers in a lightning storm
They disappeared at night in green fields of silver corn
And sometime in July she just forgot that he was leaving
So when the fields were dying, she held on to his sleeves
She held on to his sleeves
And she doesn't want to let go
'Cause she won't know what she's up against
The classrooms and the smart girls
It's the end of the summer, it's the end of the summer
When you hang your flowers up to dry

And I had a dream it blows the autumn through my head
It felt like the first day of school
But I was going to the moon instead
And I walked down the hall
With the notebooks they got for me
My dad led me through the house
My mom drank instant coffee
And I knew that I would crash
But I didn't want to tell them
There are just some moments when your family makes sense
They just make sense
So I raised up my arms and my mother put the sweater on
We walked out on the dark and frozen grass
The end of the summer
It's the end of the summer
When you send your children to the moon

The summer ends and we wonder who we are
And there you go my friends with your boxes in your car
And today I passed the high school, the river, the maple tree
I passed the farms that made it
Through the last days of the century
And I knew that I was going to learn again
Again, in this less hazy light
I saw the fields beyond the fields, the fields beyond the fields
And the colors are much brighter now
It's like they really want to tell the truth
We give our testimony to the end of the summer
It's the end of the summer, you can spin the light to gold

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

Hmm...
-finished one show (could have done more if a certain theater ever checked their phone messages...)
-learned some Italian and got to speak Spanish
-Finished 3 more politics books I bought
-Went to Vegas :)
-Met some 'messageboard friends' and saw Avenue Q. (which was kickass....the 4th time.)
-*tried* to do pilates every day
-Had the time of my life at Olympic parties (I'm having post-Olympic depression re: End of Summer )
-Got to dig up some old memories by hanging out with some elementary school friends
-Studied for my SAT IIs. Eek!

That's about it...I didn't accomplish much, but I have senior year to start, and I'm ready! Bring it on! This will have been my last 'relaxing' summer for a few years...now I'll probably have to work.

I went to Puerto Rico and just kind of used these months as a detox time. My last year ended on a bad note, and I really needed the time to reflect and chill out. I've been back for a week and half, and it feels like I never left. Go figure.

Hey -- summer still exists as an adult! I can attest to that... and I have friends who are older than I am, who did more partying this summer than I did lol (and they have better tans than I do, to boot! haha)

Both luckily and unluckily I was unemployed this summer. For the first time in years I was able to spend the summer swimming, partying and getting my pasty ass out of the office lol I had a great time -- but I do agree that it went by WAY too quickly. I start my new job tomorrow re: End of Summer

Don't think just cause the summer's over, the partying is as well.... if anything, I party harder during the winter months! lol

If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...
