I ended up with multiple tickets to Wicked. These are orchestra seats (off to the side) for 3 dates in late October. I am going but committed to more than one set of tickets to be sure I got them.
Can I take these to NY with me and legally sell them?
I would need to sell for more than face to get my money plus convenience charges out of them.
You can take tickets that you are not going to use to the Gershwin box office the day of the show. If the box office is able to resell them (which they will be able to do. The cancellation line is long.), they will refund your money.
Or you can sell them on the street and make a fortune. Not really ethical but if your hard up for money, go by the tkts line in times square and watch out for the NYPD.
"Chicago is it's own incredible theater town right there smack down in the middle of the heartland. What a great city! I can see why Oprah likes to live there!" - Dee Hoty :-D
I think Liam's idea of selling the ticekts on Ebay is great. I've sold tickets that I couldn't use when something came up AND bought tickets when they were either hard to get or someone wanted to unload tickets quickly at a good price. Either way - I made out. It's very easy to sell tickets on Ebay and I've always at least gotten back what I've paid. I think that's the easiest way to go and you'll get your money sooner than if you ask the box office to sell them.
I just sold 2 6th row center seats on ebay for $400...how good are the seast?
Also, the box office will give you no more than the face value of the ticket...excluding all fees. If it's a $100 seat you get $100. Cash.
Idina: Somehow I got myself to the stage, came out at the end of the show, and I had some kind of closure.
Some guy: You looked great!
Idina: Thanks...I WAS SO HIGH!

If you do end up going the illegal route (which I advise against), remember to have a pencil or something with you to include in the deal. That way, if you end up selling for more than the tickets are worth, it's not technically illegal, since the value of the pencil has not been determined. That pencil could be worth the extra $50 that they're giving you for the tickets. (Hmm... Why do I know that???)
