Nina is terribley bored with most of the threads on this board and is in need of some mental stimulation. Someone throw out an interesting topic, please. We'll discuss.

I've been trying to think of one...

Not really off-topic but, what are your thoughts on the musical BABY?

As much as I like the idea of showing a common experience and how different people in various stages of life deal with it, this isn't a show that I'm all that much in love with. Musically, it is lacking something.

"The Story Goes On" is an incredible song.

Agreed, though the score does have a few good songs that stand out. I particularly like "Story Goes On." I really hope the whole "common experience" doesn't get overused, after all I just read on broadway.com a short blurb about a musical about couples at an infertility clinic. Ironic isn't it?

It's not the entire score that i dislike. It just feels that some of the songs fail to capture the mood of the scene as well as they might have. There also seems to be some inconsistancy in musical flow in a couple of places.

Yeah I know what you mean.

Talk about musical inconsistency..Movin' Out (which is on bww.com radio right now) just seems like a waste of a theater space...I mean I'm sure the dancing is great..but I'd get completely bored watching this.

Movin Out has inconsistancies because the songs were never written to fit together into the context of a musical. this si the same problem I have with Mamma Mia. These were pop songs written to stand alone which have now been forced into a story. What might have worked better would have been to choreograph the the music then present each piece on it's own without the book. Something along the lines of Fosse.

i agree with nina. i don't think that taking songs that were already written, prior to making the musical, makes the musical original. whoa..did that make any sense? lol.
