May move my Fall 24 trip to Spring 25.

Also based upon leaks last week of Met's 24/25 season on reddit

Why are they "adapting" The Pirates of Penzance and setting it in New Orleans? It is a timeless classic. Do they not trust the material? I'm normally pretty open to this sort of thing, but as a G&S fan this feels like sacrilege.

This is pretty exciting!  I've always wanted to see Yellow Face and I'm excited to see English coming back around again.  I'm curious about Pirates of Penzance as well!

It seems like all their Broadway productions are happening in the Todd Haines Theatre (formerly American Airlines).  Do we expect announcements for Studio 54 to come later, or would they just continue operating that as a rental theater?

This is a strong season –– stronger than recent years, I'd say.

I am curious about the PIRATES adaptation because "G&S by way of New Orleans jazz" could be incredibly hit or miss. But it's nice to see Rupert Holmes involved with a musical again.

Thrilled to finally get to see English. Let’s hope Infinite Life and Downstate comes to Broadway now too.

Season is looking pretty bland to me, are you referring to the new Antony and Cleopatra or maybe the new Salome with Grigorian?  So far the Salome and the Frau are the only rumored productions on wiki catching my attention.

People said the same thing in the eighties about the Papp Pirates, and it went on to become a classic in its own right.

Roundabout has been interested in Pirates for a while now and recently staged a benefit concert reading of it in the fall of 2022. The adapted elements work well and reinvigorate the material with a more contemporary style, but it still feels within the realm of the timeless classic you're referring to. It's safe to assume this Broadway revival will just be a full-bodied production of that same concert.

Yes, if I choose the right week in May I can see both.  But I'll wait until the official announcement comes out to make my plans.

So happy Yellow Face is coming to Broadway.  For my money, it's Hwang's best play.

English was one of my favorite shows of 2022, so I'm thrilled that it's going to get a broader audience.

I guess we should assume YELLOWFACE is a Revival, since it premiered in 2008? Unless DHH has done a ton of work on it?

This is not the first time it has had a new adaptation. Nell Benjamin and Gordon Greenburg did a new adaptation several years back. And let’s not forget that horrible Kristi McNichol (or however you spell her name) The Pirate Movie from 1982.

The Benjamin/Greenberg Pirates! was a delight.  We wish that one was coming in from the  Huntington, Paper Mill, Goodspeed, MUNY.

One of the best, most joyous evenings that I ever spent in a theater was some years back seeing Pirates at Barrington Stage, with Kyle Dean Massey, Scarlet Strallen and Will Swenson, sheer perfection as the Pirate King. How I wish that glorious production had transferred to the city!

I’m surprised at how late in the season Pirates is opening.

April 24th, being the last Thursday in April, could likely be the cutoff for Tony nominations in 2025. I don't think the Tony committee has announced that far ahead, but wonder if that's what Roundabout is thinking,
