I'm trying to understand how to obtain rights to a musical in a foreign country.

My university is putting a musical but I don't believe they have the rights to it.

They aren't selling tickets but do have an advertisement for the musical. They are hosting the performances in one of our theatres on campus. You can line up to enter and they have seven performances.

I would simply contact the licensing agent and ASK.   Here in the states, it doesn't matter if you are charging admission or not: if it's performed for any sort of audience, rights and royalties are required.

I don't actually know if the same company here in the US handles foreign R&R, but it's not a bad place to start.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
