Starting with the Tuesday 10/5 performance, they have 10 performances in a row scheduled, as they transition to Monday night shows with Wednesdays off, so I'm not surprised we're seeing a lot of alternates. I didn't expect it to start on the first performance after opening, but it sounds like Samantha Pauly might have been on vocal rest."

I was at the show tonight and while we were waiting online we were talking to the guy at the stage door about the alternates. He said they like testing the alternates out to see how they’ll do and that’s why we’re seeing them as much as we are right now.

With that being said I was most looking forward to seeing Adrianna Hicks and was devastated when I found out I wasn’t seeing her. Nicole Kyoung-Mi Lambert was absolutely outstanding as Aragon and Mallory Maedke blew me away as Jane Seymour and left me with chills. The show as a whole was amazing to my boyfriend and I at least.

On that note, does anyone know how many queens each of the alternates cover? I know Courtney Mack has gone on for Howard and Boleyn in NY but I thought I saw somewhere that she covers all of them except Cleves. I looked when I saw the show and there's no traditional understudy listings in the Playbill, just the four alternates.

All of these alternates have been there since the beginning and all three mentioned went on in previews in Feb/Mar 2020 as well. (There is one additional alternate that we haven’t seen yet). Outside of Samantha Pauly on vocal rest, I would guess they are giving all the actresses a rest. Besides working so hard at the show, there have been numerous appearances on various morning and talk shows…and opening night earlier in the week with all the press involved.  Plus as mentioned, there are 8 days of shows in a row because of new schedule that starts next week. It’s a lot for any human being.

My feeling is they are treating all the alternates as regular cast members. They all took bows on opening night, they are listed on the posters outside the theater and have been included in many photo ops. And im guessing each might go on a few times a week as “alternates” usually do.

I have a friend who is there tonight. Adrianna is back on, Mallory is still on for Seymour, and Keirsten Nicole Hodgens is on for Parr tonight.

So who covers who is not fully confirmed. Pre-shut when their were only 3 of them, each queen was covering 5 out of the 6 queens. Post reopening however, some things seemed to have changes. Now with an extra alt, each covers at least 3 of the roles (or more possibly 4) though who covers who we might only ever know as they go on for them.

Courtney - covers 5/6 except Cleves (Performed Boleyn/Howard)

Mallory - covers 5/6 except Aragon, but will still learn all 6 tracks (Performed Boleyn/Seymour/Howard)

Nicole - covers 5/6 except Howard (Performed Aragon/Cleves/Parr)

Keirsten covers 5/6 except Boleyn (Performed Parr)

On the UK Tour, the alternate tracks are Aragon/Cleves, Boleyn/Howard, Seymour/Parr, with a fourth standby who covers queens with equal priority. I imagine Broadway will loosely resemble this for the moment, with Nicole, Courtney, Keirsten, and Mallory as dance captain performing where needed.

Was at today's matinee, Mallory on for Seymour and Kerstin's debut (i think) on bway (as Parr). It was also my first time seeing Pauly, as I'd only seen it Boston when Mack was covering.

We had a terrific time, and Pauly simply blew me away. KERSTIN was spot on as well, and incredibly emotional at cc's (making me assume it was her first show.)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
