South Florida said: "A bunch of coming to age Central Americans have come to our border. Let's take them in, they make better citizens than the white racist losers that currently wield authority. I Say bring them all in."

I recall reading an article on the subject that mentioned how there have been many families who would be more than happy to foster and/or adopt these children. Makes more sense to me than keeping them in holding.

"The four men on here who won't speak of Ted Cruz's sociopathic behavior are DannyChicago/Roxy/Yankee and the extra abhorrent JGPR2. They also won't condemn the white terrorists storming the Capitol. Just crickets on that one yet last summer they were "horrified" by the "violence" of BLM protests. They also will casually defend child rapists/rapists/racists and the entire GOP/KKK members in DC."

You are such a pompous fool who does not get that half of the stuff I post (Off-Topic) is over the top just to "push your buttons". Rush Limbaugh's death was news item to me, nothing more and nothing less. I knew full well that saying I would not join in on the "celebration" of his death you would react the way you did, mission accomplished -lol. I did not did not know I had to make sure I got on BWW and shout from the rooftops that people storming the Capitol on Jan 6th were wrong and should be punished. Correct me if I am wrong but a bunch of those people are in jail, compare that to how many BLM protestors are in jail - just saying . BTW - The Capitol Police officer that died did not die due to the "riot" on the Capitol. The officer died of natural causes. If you were good with the BLM protests all last summer than enjoy explaining to people who lost their business that it is no big deal. Really, you need to come out and admit it. You believe anybody white, male, straight and not liberal is evil and the world would be better place if they were eliminated from the planet -lol.

As for the border crisis. I believe over 1 million people come into this country a year legally even during Trump's four years. I will go out on a limb and say probably very few of them are white so that should make you happy. What message does the current situation send to the people who went thru the legal immigration process properly when they see others just come in and not have to take the steps they did to enter country. I believe every Democrat running for POTUS raised their hand saying they thought we all should pay for the health care of people here illegally and then you wonder why there is a surge to the border. Serious question for you. Should Biden be able to stop building part of wall that Congress already approved the funding of it being built? Trump had border situation under control, Biden should have not done anything different. Congress needs to get their act together and finally pass meaningful immigration legislation.  I am out.

That's a weird aspect of missions, isn't it? You might as well call yourself psychic: "I predict I will alienate people with this post... SEE! I TOLD YOU!!!"  Um, yay for you?

I saw this thread and I felt I had to respond.  I live near the border in San Diego, I cross the border on a fairly regular basis to use a foundry in Mexico, i have patients and friends who live on both sides of the border, etc.

We need to have a policy that is reasonable and recognizes that we are talking about people who are just like us in their desire for a better life. We also must acknownlege that countries have borders and our policy affects all of us who are citizens, whether we live at the border or in Iowa. Being in Southern California, it is clear that an open border and massive uncontrolled immigration has a huge negative impact on all social services locally. Not just during this current surge of people, but over the years. The costs, especially to our school systems have been huge. Having well over 150000 people cross a month is not sustainable, even if 80% are forced to go back.

What is happening is heartbreaking. The toll on the people who have to live through the process of trying to get into our country is awful. Many people die and are abused in countless ways. But to equate these people as being anything less than the rest of us is equally horrible.

My favorite place to eat breaskfast is a small place near the border frequented almost entirely by hispanic workers and their families. When I'm there on Sunday mornings, I am usually the only anglo in there. On Sunday it's mostly families, usually two or three generations at the same table, dressed nicely after coming from church. These are very hard working people whose  lives are centered around family. They work their butts off doing tough jobs that most of the people on this thread would never do. But they have a dignity, humanity, and warmth equal to anyone. We are not superior to them, mostly, many of us just feel more entitled.

They are coming for the opportunity the USA offers. And they are the first to admit that they are taking advantage of the current situation. Who, in their place. wouldn't? These people are not looking for a handout. They simply want the fantastic opportunities most of us, unfortunately, take for granted.

But it is not a sustainable situation. We know it and they know it. They mostly hate Trump, not for limiting immigration, but for being someone who would impune their character and villianize them. Who is he to question their honor? But just becausse Trump is a loathsome person does not mean that the response by Biden makes any sense. His words and actions have created a situation which is totally intolerable. Nothing Trump did, including separating children from their parents, has come close to the chaos which has been created by the words and actions of the Biden Administration. For every child separated from a parent before, there are probably a hundred unaccompanied teens now. Just because Trump kept referring to immigrants as rapest and criminals, doesn't mean there weren't a few. Now that criminal elements are more organized, there will be many more. As Mercutio said," a plague on both your houses."

I don't have an answer. We need these people. They are people I am proud to know and people who will be great citizens. But it is not right for them to come here because of  an open border. It is not fair to all the other people from other parts of the world who deserve fairness. With respect to the people from Mexico, they don't need an open border to get here get here. Many already have family and friends on this side of the border to help with the immigration process. They need help about as much as their national soccer team, El Tri, needs an extra man to beat the gringos.

If we could go back to a time when we could look at a situation and analize what is best and most fair for everyone, I would be for that. We did have that at one time. We had the Marshall Plan. We gave respect to our mortal enemy, Japan after WWII, and created a workable solution. We need leaders who think of more than their political agenda. You won't find the right leaders or the answers on cable news.

My husband and I have called San Diego "Home" since 1995.  We chose this beautiful city in large measure because of its close proximity to the border we share with our friends in Mexico.  And they ARE our friends.  The section of this conributor's post that I have highlighted is appalling to me.  His trashing of President Biden is obscene, considering the words and deeds of his predecessor.  For those who might read my comments, please understand that this contributor's quoted view is not shared by any San Diegans I know.

I'm sorry you don't like my response. I have never defended Trump and never will. But I feel the knee jerk reaction by Biden has created a chaotic border situation along the entire border which continues to hurt a lot of people. And yes, I am trashing Biden's border policy, not the President. With regard to Trump, I am trashing his policy and him.
