As depressing as the story is, I think the mini series is very well done and I like the way the script is structured. Did anyone read the book? Any thoughts from those who are watching?
Correction, it's I Know This Much Is True. I read it 8 years ago, and I think the miniseries is very faithful to the tone and spirit of the book. It helps to have such fantastic acting from everyone, especially Mark Ruffalo, but also Rosie O'Donnell, Kathryn Hahn, and the actor who plays college-aged Dominic and Thomas. I'm a couple of weeks behind, but, so far, I'm impressed with how well it's been adapted.
Thanks for correcting me. How embarrassing! I changed the thread title as you can see.
Yes, the actors are all very good and Rosie is a delightful surprise. Ruffalo will get an Emmy nod. Amazing how he can still come off as sexy while playing such tormented characters.
I also read the book in hardback when it first came out. But only have the vaguest of recollections of it other than loving it. This is my favorite tv show of 2020 so far. Such great acting across the board. Ruffalo, Hahn, and O’Donnell are all superb. As I come from a career as a mental health professional in a corrections environment, I find this show both heartbreaking and engulfing.
I'll never get enough of HBO series featuring one actor playing twins. It's funny that Ruffalo goes further physically than James Franco did on his series about porno!
