His show appears to be selling well and has already been running 4 or 5 days... Plus the show is all (or mostly) Cole Porter! Surprised that on here there was more buzz and there were more reports coming from the first performances of, say, Barry Manilow and David Byrne than there have been from Connick, who having both starred in and written Broadway musicals in the past, seems much more of a Broadway fixture.
I saw the tryout premiere in NC in September. IIRC, all but one of the songs are Porter. It has segments that include a New Orleans jazz club, Harry showing us how he orchestrates a song, and a great sequence with a huge piano that I won't spoil here. There's a 20+ piece band, plus some video clips incorporated. I thought the lighting design was particularly good. At the tryout, there were some pacing lags and sound balance issues, but things they've had plenty of time to tweak. Fans of Harry will eat it up.
