My niece is 6 years old and has been to 11 touring shows at the Orpheum in Memphis. I recently thought about making her Christmas ornaments for all of the shows she's seen. However, I wanted to get others' opinions. I could go with the ornaments but have to continue making them in the future, as most shows won't actually be selling Christmas ornaments in the merchandise stands. Or I thought maybe I could get her magnets and just make her a cute magnet board to hang them on; a lot of shows carry magnets, if not all of them. The problem with that would be trying to hunt down the ones from the shows that aren't still in production. Can I get some feedback? Thanks!
Lovely Idea! I would go w the Magnet board. You can check Playbill's website they often have merch on sale from closed shows. U could also try Ebay. The ornament idea is great but as u point out could become very time consuming in the future. Maybe one generic one ?
broadwaystore.com may also be a decent source for older show magnets, though it seems like their website isn't getting updated much these days (they still have Gettin' the Band Back Together listed in their "Current Shows" section)
Playbill.com also has stuff from closed shows....and then you could fill in with generic ones for those you can't find.
Another thought: what about a charm bracelet? You could purchase the bracelet and a charm for each show she's seen and simply keep adding to it....and maybe then present her with it when she's 13. (So you could buy an adult sized one.)
I did this for my daughter with the shows she'd been IN.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
It's worth looking on Etsy for ideas - often there will be great unique un-official musical merch created by people on there. It tends to be a lot more focused around bigger shows though (eg Hamilton) and quality can vary a lot.
