Hi! I am hoping to start auditioning for some colleges, and need one ballad and one up beat song. The problem is, well I have a pretty good range, (E3-A5) but my highest note i can belt without straining or sounding bad is a B. I can sing in my head voice obviously, and am working on mixing, but i just dont feel as comfortable with those nights and they sometimes sound airy. Does anyone have any good musical theater audition songs that are not overdone but have a good amount of belting (preferably not over a B)? Can someone please help me asap!? Thank you so much!

I would recommend you not look for songs that belt. Colleges and casting agents aren't looking for that, and frankly are often annoyed by people who just belt to the heavens. I often hear the criticism "Please don't yell at me" when teachers talk about belting in an audition. I would recommend you find songs that really showcase your ability to act through song and communicate the text of the lyrics best. I am not a casting agent, but I have heard this from many and agree that it is the way to go when sitting behind a table. And you never need to sing higher than an A4 in an audition unless there's a very specific range for a character that needs to go higher.

Here is my help to you:

Repost your request with your need in the title.  Your current title doesn't tell the readers here anything.  My guess was you needed help with getting to NYC or a place to stay or tickets.  The fact that you only got one reply in nearly 20 hours shows that your title isn't gripping.

Put your need in the title. It's not a difficult ask, and there are members here wiser than me who will have ideas for you.  Be as specific as you can in the brief space allowed
