I'm auditioning for the role of Elle Woods for a local community theatre company. I've had multiple leading roles in the area but have never performed with this particular group before. I'm blonde, age 21, love the color pink and this is my absolute dream role!

We're supposed to sing 32 bars of an upbeat song. Any suggestions? I'm a Soprano with a strong belt more in the mezzo range. I was thinking of doing "So Much Better" starting at the top and continuing to right before the "Warner!". Maybe it's best to not sing from the show for this one though as it's a pretty difficult sing. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

General tips from anyone who's played Elle would be such a blessing, too!

When I went in for Legally Blonde, I sang "Where Am I Now" from Lysistrata Jones, I also considered "One Perfect Moment" from Bring it On, which is also a good selection for Elle. I would advise not to sing from the show unless they specifically ask for that. Break a leg! I ended up getting cast as Serena, however, Elle Woods was double cast in our production. Both girls were fabulous, (one is studying music theatre at NYU currently), had two completely different interpretations of the character, but the one thing in common was the heart & truth behind everything they said / sang in the show. Go into the audition and callbacks and show them who you are. Be genuine, don't just focus on the notes / words on the page. It goes a long way. Xoxo
