After years of being a fan from afar, I'm finally able to afford tickets and travel, but I was wondering about this issue. If one buys tickets for a show on Broadway for several months out, and the show ends up closing before the date of the performance you bought tickets for, are you entitled to/guaranteed a refund? I know you typically can't get a refund if you can't make the show, but I've never thought about the inverse where the show closes.

If you buy directly from Telecharge or Ticketmaster, they will automatically refund all tickets sold for performances after the closing.

If you buy from a third party (eBay, stubhub, personal transaction with a friend, etc), only the original buyer would get refunded and you’d have to go through the rigamaroll of getting a refund from the source you bought from.

If you’re concerned about this, absolutely buy directly from Telecharge or Ticketmaster and they will have you covered in case the show closes before your date.

Okay, cool, and thank you very much! I figured there might be a policy if one purchased direct through the two major services; I try and avoid third-party unless something is absolutely sold out anyways. Thanks again, aasjb4ever!
