Now that you two have serendipitously found each other, would one or both of you report back on the show for those of us who could not make it? He's been knocking Sondheim out of the park recently (and does a great version of Schwartz's "Proud Lady"Aaron Tveit concert tonight - 1 ticket and am wondering if this show will emphasize more mature song selections befitting the Appel Room (and as he has in recent Wolf Trap shows--he sells his considerable talent way short with the bland pop covers). Also, does he drop any hints as to whether he will be continuing with MOULIN ROUGE in Boston. I realize, if he has signed on, he can't say much before an official press release but something, anything?? Was holding off purchasing tickets til Boston cast was confirmed.

I was there tonight (I got a rush ticket through TodayTix, I couldn't believe it when I got through!).  I really loved the concert - thought it was absolutely marvelous!  This reminded me a lot of his show at 54 below years ago, I just cannot decide which one I loved more (I love these venues that feel a bit more personal).  He did not do any covers of pop songs tonight, and the show definitely felt very classy and suit the venue very well.  The venue is beautiful and there is not a single bad seat in the house.  The windows from the Appel room, which is right behind the stage, go from the ceiling to the floor, and you can see Columbus Circle and all the cars on the street, but somehow it does not take away from the performance.  Aaron's voice was amazing tonight, definitely in top form.  Actually, come to think of it, he always sounds amazing every time I have seen him, in concerts or on stage.

Theaterdarling, there was no hints dropped regarding Moulin Rouge at all.  I wish that he will be continuing with it too, or that he will be signing up for another musical on stage and come back to Broadway soon.

If anyone is wondering about tonight's set list, I am trying to remember the entire list and I am probably missing a few, but here is what I currently remember (not really in order):

Aaron opened the show with "Live in Living Color" from Catch Me If You Can, then sang "Fight the Dragons" from Big Fish, then he sang some tunes from a musical called High Fidelity (which I am not that familiar with) - where he asked two volunteers to go on stage and read certain lines during the song.  Then there was "I Miss the Mountains" from Next to Normal, a medley from Rent of some sort, where he sang one of Idina's songs, then went to "One Song Glory," which then eventually turned into an opera piece.  There was also "I Could be In Love With Someone Like You," Bruce Springsteen's "Thunder Road," part of "Sandy" from Grease which was merged with "Heart and Soul," and "Beautiful City" from Godspell.  As far as Sondheim goes, there were "Maria" from Westside Story and "Being Alive" from Company.  Loren Allred was the special guest, and together they sang "Rewrite the Stars" from the Greatest Showman (which was amazing), and Loren Allred sang "Open Arms."  The encore was kind of a medley from Les Miserables (with jokes in between), and then the concert closed with "Do You Hear The People Sing."  Hopefully I am not missing many songs in here.

Overall, the concert was just such a treat.  I am still smiling about it and am just so happy that I was there.

Hanabana, I think the only one you missed was Queen’s Somebody to Love which he sang to the ladies who accompanied him on the High Fidelity number. Highlights for me were Maria and Beautiful City, which was gorgeous with the Columbus Circle background. The Les Miz medley was kind of weird and anticlimactic as an encore.

Smidge, thank you, I forgot about that one!  And yes, I completely agree with you, while I enjoyed the Les Miz medley, I really thought (and hoped) that he would do another encore on a more serious note.  It would've probably been a good idea to switch the placement of the Les Miz medley with another song in the set list. Overall though, the concert was gorgeous.
