I was hoping to buy a ticket to this event (as my NYC trip this year just happens to be at the right time-March 26), but am not a patron so can't buy early tickets. Is this the kind of thing that sells out before tickets go on sale to the general public? If so, is there anyone willing to buy a single $125 ticket for me that I would GLADLY pay for? I would be forever grateful! I noticed that they go on sale today at noon for patrons. I know it's a long shot but thought I'd ask...

Public sale just began. Plenty of $125 seats still available.

Am I the only one who remembers when seats for this gala cost about $75 dollars; you were given a color-coded wristband,  and there wasn't even assigned seating? Now the show only seats are $125 to $299 each. Yikes

Has anyone gone to Miscast shows in the past? From the youtube videos it looks really fun and I'd really like to go, but $125 is quite a steep price for a student like me.

I haven't been to MISCAST for about three years but when I did attend, it was like most gala performances - fun but short. Most performers get one song, the headliners may get two.  The edges are a little rough since there must be only limited rehearsal opportunities. The idea is that singers get to do songs that they would never do - women singing male role songs and vice versa, or youngsters singing songs sung by older characters, etc. You get the idea. Sometimes it works, sometimes it's just "cute." The performance only tickets used to be $50-$100, so if the evening wasn't a total success, it didn't seem to matter. With the prices they are charging now, they better knock it out of the park! Plus there used to be complimentary wine available - now you apparently have to pay an extra $100 for the honor.
