Two years ago, on the day of Broadway Flea Market, I got into the city at 10am, shopped the flea market, had lunch at Carmine's, shopped some more, saw the 3pm matinee of Fun Home, stage doored, went back to the market and shopped some more, and then went to the opening night of the Spring Awakening revival.

Draining day...both on my wallet and emotionally! But unforgettable!

I once saw 4 performances in one day.  Had a ticket to all three parts of Norman Conquests, which were sold as individual performances.  Based on the time, and at the spur of the moment, I decided -- after the second play -- that, instead of dinner, I would see a 90 minute show with Tovah Feldshuh (Irina's Vow???)...the price: I would likely miss 5 minutes of the third Norman Conquests play.  I had Sabrett's hot dogs for dinner and will never know how much I missed, but I actually believe that I missed about a minute, based on the stage action the was occurring when I entered.

All in all, a very fun day...and, although Irina's Vow wasn't a great play, I did enjoy it (plus, it was serious...a nice contrast to Norman...

I actually prefer to do two show days since I can see two shows (or even the same show twice, which I haven't done in NY but for a tour in a city other than my hometown) for the price of one train ticket.

Since most conventional two show day schedules have 2pm and 8pm spread out so the actors can also enjoy the time between their shows, you should still have time after visiting the stage door for dinner. I'd just advise looking at reservations if you're looking for a sit down meal since you're on a schedule, or get something that's quick serve.

Thank you very much for all your kind responses! It means a lot!
I think my two show day will be a Sunday, and I'll see Anastasia and The Book of Mormon.
Also, thank you for your advice. I've taken note Two shows in a day?

I am in the right place with kindred spirits.  In order to maximize my trip to London many years ago, I saw six musicals in three days.  The West End has more variable matinee days, not just Wed and weekends.  I did two on Thursday, one on Friday, and three on Saturday(1pm, 4pm, and 8pm)  Could have thrown in a seventh Friday afternoon, but went sightseeing instead.
