FYI: I was inspired to create this post because back in February (2016), when iTunes first listed the OC album of "School of Rock", I paid $5.99 for the album. Since the Tonys, the price has jumped to $13.99. Why not take advantage of better prices when we can?

Also, there are items for collectors, like the Donna Summer Godspell, that I thought others may find interesting.

Here is a "checklist" regarding what to include in your recommendations (as applicable):

1) Include an “as of” date (i.e., the date you collected the resource info and/or its expiration period)
2) List the specific source, including hyperlink (if applicable), or any relevant info that would allow the reader to take advantage of the price (i.e. business address, coupon code, other source details).
3) Include a specific indication of price

If there's any other info that would help the reader, please include it in your post! laugh

I like to buy them when they first come out because websites like amazon (and sometimes stores like Best Buy---I do prefer supporting a store!) will have them on sale at launch. I don't like to pay more than $13 or $14 unless it's two discs. I think $18+ is a lot for one CD. I also prefer a real copy because I like having the libretto to see the pictures and read the words/in-between asides/etc.

I also like buying older stuff I don't have or newer stuff I haven't picked up yet when stores like Barnes and Noble do 30% (40%?) off sales. (They're also good for Criterion sales! I like that they put pricier things nobody else stocks on sale for us to see in person!)

I also browse through the used section when I go to bookstores, CD shops, etc to see if anyone has traded in a gem!

I don't really buy anything on iTunes, so I don't know how their sales run!

Mostly, I just wait until someone is talking about a sale here or I see one running online! Again, I personally think the best prices are when a CD first comes out, or if a store is having a coupon/deal/etc, but then you have to wait--and I don't like to wait!

You can also find stuff sometimes at good prices on eBay or through Used Sellers on Amazon. I got several different Forbidden Broadway albums for around $3 a piece in great condition!!!
