Haha, I actually meant the cast recording. :P I know that the show may be happening.
I'm seriously hoping this is coming to Broadway. My dad adored Spongebob and he was excited about the musical ("We're there, girl" and a big high five 
Tears are weddling up as I'm writing this!) and I would love to see the show in memory of him.

My sources aren't anything finite, just a lot of hearsay I was hearing over the last several months. It could very well have changed since last I heard.

There's no way ON YOUR FEET is around next year. I have a feeling this will take the Marquis. I think KINKY BOOTS still has another year left.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I don't think recording the cast album before opening on Broadway is the worst in this situation, since the songs aren't likely to be altered too much since they're all written by different pop artists. It's not like they're all gonna be around during previews to tweak their material. Yes, small changes may be made, but I have a feeling the show is pretty much frozen song-wise.
