My question is "how much of the increase in Mamma Mia's sales is due to it closing and how much is due to it being summer so bookings are up?" I appreciate that it will be benefitting from last few weeks panic sales for punters to see it one last time but actually, it's been weeks now. I wonder why the producers did not keep it going through the summer and then announce its closure in, what I believe are the quieter times.

To be fair, what do I know, I'm British and have no idea of the vagaries of Broadway seasons. It's earlier grosses seemed pretty good for a long running show and one that I suspect does not cost to run.

Wish I could see it on Broadway - the last show I saw there was either Titanic (The Musical) or Footloose.

Yes, Teller speaks after the show. Both are very nice.

Because another show has the theater booked for Fall and if they did not announce closing as early as they did they probably wouldn't be making what they are making. Sure, they'd have their summer tourists as usual stopping by, but these numbers are IMPRESSIVE. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some life after Broadway after all, in whatever form that may be.

Fall? Do you mean Autumn (as in Phillips?) :)

Dear Daughter   (one of the oldest internet abbriviations)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Never done[intentionally] abbriviations-typing or verbally--always considered it a bit lazy-a generation thing.

But thanks for the explanation---2 things I have learnt today--DD and LOL---and just when I thought I knew everything.

A friend TALKS a lot in abbriviations-his fave[yes I know] is NAGL and I always laugh.
