There's also a pretty darn amazing DVD available of a show which aired on television in 1956: The Adventures of Marco Polo (with Doretta Morrow). In some ways, it's sort of a Kismet knockoff, but well worth having.
My God, he was incredible! That man had charisma to spare!
"A coherent existance after so many years of muddle" - Desiree' Armfelt, A Little Night Music
"Life keeps happening everyday, Say Yes" - 70, Girls, 70
"Life is what you do while you're waiting to die" - Zorba
A wonderful record of a great performer at his prime. I cannot imagine anyone, before or since, singing "My Wandering" any more expressively. He was offered a contract by the Metropolitan Opera but said he wanted to sing and act, and so turned it down. I have always thought his voice was one of the most beautiful baritone voices ever recorded. Thank you, a thousand times.
