Not entirely true. I've seen a few clips of him from the national tour opening night and he seemed exactly the same. The only difference I guess was he didn't hit the high note in Memphis lives in me. But he did a little riff anyway so it was still amazing.

I saw the original cast of SWEENEY TODD at a matinee, and they were marvelous.

On the other hand, two of the laziest performances I've ever seen came at matinee performances. Lily Tomlin completely phoned in a Wednesday matinee of SEARCH FOR SIGNS OF INTELLIGENT LIFE and Nathan Lane was so busy counting the nearly empty audience members at a Wednesday matinee of THE FROGS that he seriously injured himself and had to let his understudy complete the performance.

I tend to avoid matinees where possible.

Some of you bitches are as rude as ever...

Attendance:

All I am saying is when I saw EDWIN DROOD one Saturday evening in January HALF THE CAST WAS OUT. I will be going to New York again in September and I feel If I saw PIPPIN or KINKY BOOTS on Wednesday I would miss a few of the leads.

This trend pertaining to Wicked:
If I am going to a two show day and I wanted to see Lindsay Mendez I feel there is a 60% chance I will see Elphaba's stand by.

Performance:

When I see Wicked I am paying for the last 50 seconds of "Defying Gravity" and "The Wizard and I" and nothing more (It is my sandwich, I paid for It and I can eat it how I wan't to.) After 20 times you don't care about the Ox and all the rest of it unless you are familiar with the actors and going to see their performance.

It is about the amazing vocals in an amazing numbers. It is like seeing Memphis and having someone not be able to deliver the last line in "Memphis Lives In Me" or having their voice crack at the end of "Defying Gravity" in Wicked or "One Song Glory" in RENT.

Spell check me please. You did not major in english just to sit on your ass all day. Once your done with this post you can start on my website thatishorrible.com that is if your stomach can take it.

Professor Headband, some of the students don't show up to class on two-show days and though the group projects turn out ok, I am afraid your valedictorian will **** up the ending to his or her solo exam.

Any performance can be lackluster if the energy just isn't there. I have seen many Matinees and could tell the actors were giving it all they had. Is that always the case? Nah, but to avoid the cast of Godspell..I mean Matinees is just foolish. I would much rather go see a Matinee when the performers are doing it the first time that day instead of an evening performance when the energy may be a bit lacking cause they already did a show earlier that day. Some performers just have that stamina to go full out twice in one day and some don't.

So Lauren Bacall me, anything goes! *wink*

Nice attempt on the analogy.

I think you misunderstood my post. I understand what you're trying to say, but why are you saying it? There is nothing we can do to control a human being's decision to call out of a performance.

That's my question.

Profesor Hedband I did not get it before , but I get it now. You are philosophical genius. I guess all we could do is ask the box office to change out ticket for a show where the performer we want is preforming and if we get a ****ty Defying Gravity we could close our eyes and dream of Eden Espinosa during intermission.

Mister, I am bitter because I cannot say a word without a dozen people auto-correcting my pretty decent spelling on this board. I assume Broadway world has hired spell-checkers about the same time they hired Randy Rainbow but I feel we do not have a need for either one of them as it is a poor use of tax payer dollars.

I am also bitter because the moderators took down my personal Chicago The Musical at the Hollywood bowl review post with pictures I took just because it was not a rave.

#92Do you avoid shows off-Broadway?
Posted: 8/7/13 at 12:39pm

I'm from Los Angeles I travel for freaking ever (5 and a half hours on a plane with ADD are you kidding?) I love Broadway. I watch, I listen, I learn, I read and I anticipate for my two weeks of hardcore two show on two show a day action. I plan and wait my turn and Will Chase will not be at the performance or the roll of Elphaba will be played by Donna Vivino? (nothing against her) or What is god forbid Annaleigh Ashford has a baptism to go to mid September then who will say yeah? What I am getting at is I don't live in NY and it is not a cheap hobby and I would hate to miss someone I have be wanting to see.

Oh boo hoo.

I went to see THE NANCE on Saturday night. Nathan was out. I survived.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

OP a few months ago, I was at Pippin (I know BIG surprise)evening show. 15 minutes before curtain the usher called me over to inform me that Stephanie Pope would be going on for Patina Miller. I was bummed but there was nothing I could do but sit back and enjoy the show. Turns out if was fun to watch...they had never done a full run through with Stephanie so things were missed (Stephanie was not on stage for something she should have been). Things got ad-libbed. It was fun. Granted if I had not seen the show before, I would not have noticed the changes-problems. Sometimes the understudy is better than the lead because they are fresh to the role and have their own take and have not been doing the same thing over and over for the last 6 months or longer.

What loss? Sheesh. Not getting to see Nathan Lane play Nathan Lane? Been there, done that, passed on the t-shirt.

I think you should stick to movie-going. Unless a "Purple Rose of Cairo" scenario ever comes true, you'll always be able to count on the star being there.

If it were pretty decent or even actually correct, perhaps you wouldn't have any reason to be bitter. And perhaps people might want to read your blogs. But neither the attitude, spelling or grammar displayed here lead me to believe the blogs would be any more comprehensible or less "bitter".
