The view was actually really nice! I could see the lit-up colored boxed that spell out MATILDA, high above the stage, perfectly. It was basically like standing in the center of the orchestra, just a bit further back. You don't miss anything, really. Another plus is that so many scenes have the actors entering and exiting from the back of the house, so they walk past the SRO slots and you can get a glimpse of them up close for a second or two. I almost got whipped with a jacket after "Revolting Children" when the older students came running up the aisle, waving their jackets around in celebration.

What do we think the odds are for doing this for the Matinee on a weds?

I waited for standing room tickets yesterday and I ended up with the ticket all the way house left on the aisle. The view was very good. The only thing I couldn't see (and I don't think any SRO people could see) was the kids in the side boxes at one point. Otherwise, a very good view, especially for the price.

What time did you get there?

I got there on Thursday at around 8:20am and the last 2 tickets were given out to the people in front of me. On Friday, I got there at 7:20 and I was 6th on line and I got ticket number #7 & #8 out of the apparent 9 they sell. The girls in front of me asked and they were told they sell 9 tickets.

Okay, cool. Thanks! I'm going to do this the week after this upcoming week. I'll probably get there at 7.

I did it yesterday, got there at 720 and was able to get SRO for either show. I wouldn't recommend going much later though

Has anyone done this recently? SRO isn't acknowledged on The Rush Report. I'm thinking of going this weekend.

Bump: same question as fella. Anyone know how early you have to line up to have a good shot at scoring an SRO ticket?

Bump again. Wanting to go for Bertie's last on Sunday. Would also love to meet any BWW members that may be there.

I was third in line for SRO two Thursdays ago at 7:50 AM.

There were 17 people in line for SRO at 9:30am last Saturday. I was doing something else, but counted the line. A bit later I had an inkling to go back and by luck I somehow got the last two standing room tickets at around 10:30am without waiting in line.

I'm confused about how many SRO spots are available for each performance. I think I read earlier that there were only 9, but it seems people have had success with longer lines? Anyone able to clarify? Thanks!

There are more than 9. Not sure exactly how many though. There are some one each side of the orchestra and i believe some in the middle. It's a lot easier if you go on a two show day and don't have a preference. A lot of people will leave forfeit their tickets if the particular performance they wanted is sold out. So you just have to be flexible.

Sorry for the bump, but wondering if anyone has tried SRO recently. Everywhere I've read says it's available for when the show is sold out, but does anyone know how strict that is, or if Matilda still regularly sells out on Saturday evenings? Hoping for a backup if I don't win the lottery on my trip in February.

The lottery groups have been much smaller more recently - though I don't know about Saturday specifically..so you probably have a better chance of winning. And often they sell "lottery loser" seats for those who don't win...I think about $49 vs $27.

I would say there are more shows that do not have standing room but it's pretty much hit and miss...without any particular rhyme or reason. If your coming in February for Presidents week, it would probably be busier than during the rest of the month.
