Is every person gonna say this everytime they see a clip!

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

No, just the same posters who always criticize.

It's just a pretty traditional school uniform look. They aren't that unique.

I think it's their best TV appearance so far. Love how Bertie is doing different monologues now, really gets to show his mannerisms and talent. Maybe if this was done earlier then...?

Anyway, the sound is much better in this performance, you can hear the different layers of Revolting Children and for the first time I could make out the lyrics "so we gotta stay inside the line but if we disobey at the same time..".

I think it would have been nice to have "Matilda" there.

Also, not that it was a bad performance at all but it would be nice for America to think there is more than one song in Matilda as I am personally kinda tired of seeing this one.

I haven't seen Spring Awakening but my musician daughter who saw Matilda at the Tony's when she was there said.."it's like Spring Awakening..I didn't realize it was so much the same". So another opinion.

At least (and thankfully), Bertie was on it! :) Loved and surprised about the new dialogue, I think he was going to do the losers monologue.

But, really, I'm tired of Revolting Children! The Hammer, When I Grow Up, School Song, Loud, pick one!

Other then some scenes being AT a school with some mean adults, it is NOTHING like Spring Awakening. Unless Matilda put in a sex or S&M scene.

MOST people don't see all the tv performances. And even if they did, the producers aren't going to show so many bits that folks don't feel the need to see the show.

Well that was so much better than the awful dead performance Pippin gave on Letterman.

This show has one song in it. I've seen it it 42 venues on TV now. Various sets, various issues with sound, various hosts introducing them, various lighting setups.

Still, one song.

I wonder what they'll be doing for the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade?

Let me guess ...

"MOST people don't see all the tv performances. And even if they did, the producers aren't going to show so many bits that folks don't feel the need to see the show."

However..if I look at the scenes that are out there on You Tube that have been broadcast on the English telly, I have seen this scene yes, but also Naughty, When I Grow Up and Quiet. Since I much prefer When I Grow UP and Quiet, it would be nice to see those as well. Seeing all those scenes made me want to see Matilda - but I think seeing Revolting over and over might indicate there is not much else to see (which is wrong).

The diction seemed to be a bit better. I could understand about 25% of what they were saying, rather than the usual 10.

A couple more tv appearances of the same number. and I will have the choreography down.

I also wonder why the Broadway Matilda always seems to perform the one song on TV. This is the kind of TV performance I wish they would do sometime (from the London cast last year):

I could watch that clip over and over, though I probably don't need to..I think I have memorized it in my brain already.

Also the four British Matilda's performing at the 2012 Olivier awards are also spellbinding.

“Revolting Children” is the easiest to transfer to TV (and TV audiences) well, perform out of context, showcase children, and have dancing. It makes sense that this song, unless they do a medley of sorts (as they did on GMA and the Tony’s), would be the one that they would keep performing.

This whole "I-can't-understand-what-they're-saying" talk about Matilda's recent performances are doing wonders for my self-esteem!

Not being a native English speaker and yet being able to understand pretty much everything they sang in this performance (and past ones), made me a lot more confident about my English! LOL

I'm going to have to disagree with you dramamama, even if it means you give me a demerit for it. Once the kid pulled the hand mic out of his jacket, what at first looked reminiscent of Spring Awakening suddenly looked like an homage to it. Once they started the stylized movements, it looked like grand theft.

GilmoreGirlO2---Revolting Children may be the easiest to perform on TV, but that means one of two things:

1) They aren't trying hard enough to make something else work.

2) They don't believe there's any other song in the score worth performing for American TV audiences.

I'd like to hope it's the former, but it's not good either way.

best-I agree with you.

I also wonder why they won't do "The Hammer" (if for no other reason than to give the poor children a break).

That's why Pippin has the Tony for Best Revival and Matilda has what??? Oh that's right Kinky Boots won.

Wait, so Pippin won because they gave a lifeless performance on Letterman?

Seems logical.

Wow, GChris, calm down. It's an opinion. You have ones too. Get over it.

Anyway, I loved this performance! Clear, concise, and showcased Bertie and the children wonderfully!
