Does anyone know if Caissie Levy, Richard Fleeshman, and Da'Vine Joy Randolph perform in the matinee shows? I'm thinking about going to a matinee, especially on Wednesdays, and I would love to see them in it. I just wanted to check because sometimes for matinees understudies would perform.
Also, has anyone stage doored for Ghost? How has it been? Do any of the main cast members come out after matinee shows and do autographs/pictures? Any response would be greatly appreciated!
When I saw a Ghost matinee during previews I had all the leads except Da'Vine Joy Randolph, but from what I understand she has been sort of sparse at a lot of the performances. As for stage door all the leads came out that day, and surprisingly, they all started from one end and worked their way down signing everything and taking pictures. They're all very nice. The ensemble comes out too, but some of them don't sign because I guess they think people only want the leads, but I want everyone's signature. Enjoy!
I heard last minute about the appearance at the Time Warner Center yesterday - there were about twenty people when I got there at 6 - it started at 5:30 PM so I missed the performance but was able to get the free CD autographed by all three principles. Caissie Levy was even reminding people to take the wrapper off so that when they wanted to listen to the CD they'd not lose the autographs. They gave away cookies from Whole Foods. Fun time! Ghost Cast at Time Warner Center
Hana, asides from D'avine the 3 other leads have not missed a single show since the previews started, so chances are you will see them even if the show is a matinee.
Thanks to all of you for the replies~ I'm looking forward to going to the show! PS: The Time Warner Center event sounds cool! And free cast recording?! Wow, nice! I wish I could've gone~
Performing on bway is just like any other job. Actors don't/can't just take off because its a two show day. They only have a certain number of sick days -- just like in the real world. There are a few roles that officially have an alternate -- meaning that it is a permanent schedule for someone else to perform. (Currently, I believe only Evita and Phantom have alternate actressess.)
Actors get vacation time and of course, they do get sick -- but it really isn't that often that folks are out. (There are always exceptions, of course.)
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Thanks for the info, dramamama611. That makes a lot of sense. I wasn't sure if Ghost had any permanent schedules for alternates to go on so I guess that was really my question.
Well, to answer my own question - I saw Ghost today for the matinee performance. All four leads performed in the show. Only Bryce Pinkham came out and signed at the stage door. (He's really nice!) I really wanted to meet Caissie and Richard but I totally understand that they need the time to get ready for the next show.
As for the show, it was fantastic! The music was great, the cast all sounded amazing, and the set and lighting effects were stunning! Definitely worthwhile~ I highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a good musical to see.
Glad to hear that you got to meet Bryce @hanabana! He is so sweet and kind and a wonderful performer as well!! And also glad to hear that you enjoyed the show :)
