He was at the matinee performance of the South Downs/Browning Version double bill at the Harold Pinter Theatre. He was by himself - for some reason I love it that he would spend his Saturday afternoon in London going to the theatre by himself. He entered just ahead of me and sat a few rows behind me (I was in a front row day seat) between two ladies who clearly didn't know who he was.
I thought long and hard about approaching him but in the end I chickened out. I gave him a long look at intermission and I think we made eye contact - I'll settle for that.
BTW, the show was EXCELLENT. And the front row at the Harold Pinter (20 pounds) is a great place to see it.
I can verify your story as being true Mallardo, as he told me he was going to see this show South Downs/The Browning tomorrow afternoon. when we had a late lunch on Friday, I have to say he wasn't on his best form, as he was jet-lagged.
