When the UK tour of Dirty Dancing opened in Bristol there was an initial load of negative comments on the theatres Facebook page, and I notice in Southampton it is getting very mixed reviews. There are a large amount of negative comments, which I havent seen on a major UK tour for a long time. Many who enjoyed the show in London but saying the tour is no where near the level it needs to be.

Apparently in Manchester over 25 arrests were made during its run, which is why bouncers have been bought in to confiscate drinks at the theatre entrance.

Things are getting exciting....25 arrests at a theatre show! I presume drunken patrons?
We're going to see it soon. If any drunks get in my way, they'd better watch out.

I have to be honest, I've never been particularly interested in seeing this show - never bothered seeing it in the West End. But my friend, the lovely and amazing Rosa O'Reilly, will be joining the cast in July. So I will definitely be seeing it when it's at the Wales Millennium Centre in November!

Having read the headline, until I read the second half of the final sentence of the initial post, I thought the arrests were of pissed off actors!

Princeton i worked at the Palace in Manchester for many years and drunk patrons getting escorted out by the police is nothing new on 'these' kind of shows.

Also checking bags on doors for alcohol has been happening there (again on these kind of shows) for many years. I can remember doing it myself when Mamma Mia played the Palace for the first time at least 3 years ago

Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna

Yes it may have been common place in Manchester, but my point is its now been put in place at other venues because of problems at other venues

I wondered why I got my bag searched when I went to see Chicago recently at the Palace. First time it has happened to me there and it was a proper search not the usual cursory glance. I usually don't go to 'those' sort of shows.

I was really expected to hate this, but when I saw it in London, cannot comment on the tour, guaranteed scaled down version, but I was pleasantly surprised to have such a good evening.

Why would anyone turn up to a show drunk, surely that's disrespectful to both your fellow audience and the actors onstage.

Blimey!

I sometimes stay over in a hotel after a show, and I sometimes pick up a bottle of wine for a late night (after show) drink. I'd be horrified if they confiscated it from me because they were expecting me to neck it mid-performance!
