Saw the show Sunday Night- Ta’rea was out, and Gisela Adisa was on for Deloris (at least I think so, I can’t quite remember what the board said outside the theatre, but I am pretty sure). When she first came on, she looked a lot like Patina. She was truly wonderful- having seen Patina, Raven and Ta’rea- I think she is now my favorite. I mean, she was pretty darn perfect in everything (even made my mother cry during ‘Sister Act’.) Lynne Wintersteller was perfect as Mother Superior (having seen Victoria, Carolee and Hollis) I felt like she was light years better then Hollis- vocally and otherwise. She and Carolee are tied with being my favorite Mother Superiors (I preferred some of Carolee’s line deliverys over Lynne’s). It’s Funny, I felt like Carolee was better than Victoria, and I felt like Lynne was better than Hollis.

Chester Gregory was just as good as he was on Broadway- my only sadness was that his highest note in “I could be that guy” was gone. The whole cast was really wonderful. As some people have said- Diane Findlay’s rap was perfect and you could understand every word. Florrie Bagel still brings it as Mary Patrick. Ashley Moniz was spectacular as Mary Robert- Her ‘Life I never led” was the best I have ever heard. DaShaun Young was on for Curtis and was wonderful.

Saw the second to last performance here in Detroit. Carla Woods was on for Deloris... WOW. Just INCREDIBLE. Her voice just soared with the score -- her energy was impeccable. Especially during the small scene before Fabulous, Baby after Take Me to Heaven... she was extremely enjoyable. As for Hollis, I enjoyed her performance but still feel Carmello was the strongest (and I'm a Victoria Clark fan). Nuns brought the house down during Raise Your Voice; matinee audiences at the Fisher DON'T stand up for anything... never seen them give a standing ovation for any show but this.

Chester was great. I was nervous that he would be phoning it in, but was pleasantly surprised by his performance. Set was small but it worked. Did not expect the stage deck at all. The concepts and the lighting reminds me of the Legally Blonde National Tour but this set offers a little more with simplicity. The stained glass panels were cool, but the amount the tour with right now is great. The convent drops did seem a little wrinkled but that's minor in my book. Tour is going non-eq next year... too bad Carla could not be Deloris. She was exceptional!

I really wish Hollis hadn't returned to the show. Lynne Wintersteller, her temporary replacement was MUCH better then she was in the role.

For whatever reason... Haven't Got a Prayer felt very slow. Things didn't pick up until the end of Good to Be a Nun to be honest. I really liked the sky drop/cyc during Sister Act ballad. Really nice.

Ta'Rea is always absent even with the lowered keys.

From what I have heard from others, Ta'Rea has been out entire city stops or near to it- I know she was out the entire week the show came to Kansas City, MO.

When the show was in Louisville she performed most if the run but the last Saturday her voice was shot. She did like the first Act of the Saturday Matinee, then at that shows intermission she had to switch out with her understudy. I don't know about multiple stops with the show but you have to have a bit of compassion. Deloris is one hard role to sing. Let alone keep your voice up all the time while traveling.

Not knocking her, but the few times I saw her, she was just okay- her understudies were much better.

I guess I lucked out as Ta'Rea was wonderful the two times I saw the show in DC.

I mean, she was great, but her understudies were better to me. I had seen both Raven and Patina before her so I had high expectations, which she pretty much met- she just did not have that extra umph that the role needed.

I enjoyed her in Louisville. Also I went to the stage door and she was super nice!

I saw Patina, Rashidra, and Raven before I saw Ta'Rea and she was my least favorite without a doubt. Now that doesn't make her bad, but she was definitely the weakest. Also, the lowered keys really diminished some of the songs for me.

I wonder when they lowered the keys. I actually liked Ta'Rea more than Patina.
