"Xiah Junsu, currently a member of JYJ, has been cast as the lead actor in the upcoming original Korean musical “Tears Of Heaven“. Also cast is Brad Little, who starred in the 1996 version of "The Phantom of the Opera," who are set to join the cast for the entire run.

Considered to be the ambitious work of Seol Company's CEO, Seol Do Yoon, and Core Content Media's Kim Gwang Su, the production revolves around a love triangle set during the Vietnam War between a Korean soldier, a female Vietnamese singer, and an American officer. Junsu has been casted for the role of 'Jun Hyung', the Korean soldier that falls in love with the Vietnamese singer, 'Lin'. 'Jun Hyung' later becomes a famous composer and the father to his daughter that he had with Lin.

Seol Company reportedly set aside $10 million USD for production costs alone.

The musical is scheduled to open for January 27th in Korea, and will run for a month there before being taken overseas to Japan and Europe. A performance in the States by 2012 has been pinned as their ultimate goal."

Additional credits include:

Music by Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll & HYDE, WONDERLAND, Bonnie & Clyde)
Book by Phoebe Hwang (Rudolf - The Last Kiss)
and Lyrics by Robin Lerner

Directed by Tony Award nominee Gabriel Barre (Starmites (performed), directed world premieres of Memphis, Camille Claudel)

Although it will be performed in Korean, an English concept album has been recorded with hopes of a release. The concept album stars:
Linda Eder, Rob Evan (Disney's Tarzan) & Christiane Noll (Ragtime), the original stars of Wildhorn's Jekyll & HYDE on Broadway, as well as James Barbour (Beauty and the Beast, A Tale of Two Cities, Jane Eyre) and Jackie Burns (Hair). Also featured is Morgan James (The Addams Family, WONDERLAND).'

The trailer is below, featuring the title song (by Linda Eder) and the song "Can You Hear Me?" (sung by Linda Eder, Rob Evan & James Barbour).

Is Frank out of classic literature?

He was commissioned for this project, if that means anything for you. I believe the producers enjoyed his Japanese musical "Never Said Goodbye," which was based off of the lives of a few people during the Spanish Civil War. (Wildhorn was the first non-Japanese composer to write for the Takarazuka Revue)

I'm liking the promotional pictures. I'd love to hear more of the music.

Lee HaeRi (the girl in those pictures) is stunning, one of the best voices in KPop. Big voice, but I don't know anything about this show so I hope her vocal talent is going to be put to use. I really hope they record this in one way or another... I know Cassies will find some way to demand it. There will be plenty of curtain call fancams, that's for sure.

For anyone that doesn't follow KPop, Xiah Junsu would, I guess, be the equivalent of someone like Julia Roberts in a play, but multiply that by about 100. He sold out all of his performances (6 performances released so far = 10K seats) in 5 minutes. Updated On: 12/18/10 at 05:21 AM

Thanks for the info CyCo...

I assume Lee HaeRi would be playing the Linda Eder role, which is a cabaret-ish lounge singer. She's got a "Bring on the Men"-ish song from my understanding (a duet), as well as her own solo cabaret number (Unless it's been cut), to boot with both songs (and many others) in the video trailer.
