This was just on TBS, and it made me wonder: wasn't it not too long ago they had announced a musical on this? Have there been any updates?

The musical opens at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle on September 7th, so there will probably be some reviews from local papers (and probably Variety) around then.

I won't be able to attend this show, so I'll have no report from it.

I do know that this production does contain gunshots (blanks) for those wanting to know.

There are a couple more videos on the 5th Avenues website too it looks like. One with the director and one with the costume designer. Some of the sketches look fun. I hope they have video of the show up at some point.

Here's another video of Jason Danieley and Keven Earley performing on a local talk show "New Day Northwest" from this morning.

The video right now kinda stops and sputters out right before thier performance, but hopefully it will be working later on.

If they're in previews, they're probably making lots of changes. Sounds like maybe she forgot a change. Seems pretty harsh to dig up an old thread to rag on a little girl who possibly went up on a line. Are you a little girl who was up for the same role? :)

An "old thread" from a week ago?

I'm sill reeling from the report that there is/are gunshot(s) in the show!

I saw it tonight and I think this show has a lot of potential, but needs work. The story is engaging and fun, although the sound was often muffled and it was sometimes difficult to tell what was going on. The show was too long, especially in the first half, and the fight choreography needs to be tightened. I especially liked the chemistry between the uncles and Walter (the little boy), and anytime Samira was onstage I was enthralled. The ending was a bit preachy and the love song was weak, but I liked the country songs and a song at the end when the uncles were teasing each other. Apparently the end was completely different last night, and they changed it to gauge audience reaction tonight, when the story was resolved more clearly. I think I would have liked the ending better if I had seen this production last night. I thought this show was well acted, witty at times, and fun. It's not anywhere near ready for New York, but I think it has the potential to be.

Did you notice that my post in which you replied to has been removed? NOT by me! Does BWW have a producers credit? And I was being gentle. IMO This show is no where near Broadway ready. A little comment on a message board is the least of their worries. The creative team should really focus on the actually show. Do they think that getting BWW to take down a post will "fix" their show and no one else, critics included, will notice the flaws? Like I said, I saw the show this week and among many other issues the one that bothered me the most was that the young actress playing Jane forgot her ENTIRE scene. Not just one line. Every time it was her turn to speak she repeated UM....UM. The audience was stunned, not just me. I am/was cheering for this show but the version I saw was very ---------- . I have serious doubts since the 2ndhand Lion team throws tantrums about lukewarm posts and so are probably not open to critiques or changes. Too bad really.

I thought the little girl who played Jane was really good. She seemed to remember all of her lines and her song was one of the better moments of the evening.

Secondhand Lions is currently at the 5th Avenue in Seattle... I'm not planning on seeing it, but tickets are on sale if anyone is interested.
