I have always loved Ann-Margret and I was so happy to read she won a long, overdue Emmy last night for her fine guest starring work on LAW AND ORDER:SVU. This wonderful Actress has given so many great, Emmy worthy performances over the years. She should have won over a quarter of a century ago for her stunning, heartbreakingly beautiful performance in an excellent telefilm entitled WHO WILL LOVE MY CHILDREN? Congratulations to this terrific pro!

She arguably should have won the following year, as well, for her stunning Blanche in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE (with Treat Williams and Beverly D'Angelo.)
I agree, Broadway Legend, the lovely lady was also a smashing Blanche in STREETCAR. She was also terrific in THE TWO MRS. GRENVILLES. As I said, she has given several Emmy worthy performances over the years.
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
Her husband, Roger Smith gave up performing because in his own words he never really, truly enjoyed it. He gave it up in 1967 and dedicated himself to A-M's career. He's her manager. They've just celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary. Updated On: 8/23/10 at 06:29 PM
Very thrilled for her. Talk about class, plus she's still gorgeous, and I think a lot of that acutally comes from within. Obviously I don't know her, but that's the impression I get. Love the photos in this thread!
Check this out from Dan-O-Rama Productions - has Ann-Margret video tributes / motages http://www.danoramaproductions.com/danorama.html (Flash site) click: Enter Point needle on the dial to "Ann-Margret" (it's on the left side) At the next screen, when the little tv set within the larger screen stops spinning, the buttons at the bottom go to video montages / tributes. Also the violet and horseshow buttons on the main screen, near the bottom, go to two different video montages (the buttons to the left), plus "Violets for Mother," video and Trainrobbers outtakes (buttons to the right). Edit: clicking the "Next" button on any of the six videos will take you to the next video. Click on the lips to read Ann-Margret's note/endorsement of Dan's work. Pretty cool! I got the link from the Official Ann-Margret web site: http://www.ann-margret.com/, which is a lovely site, although it appears to not have been updated in a bit. Apparently you can even email her via her site. :)
Thought I'd throw this in too, for those with a Netflix subscription. The following are all available to watch on Netflix Instant:
Of course lots more for rental there, but thought I'd throw out these Instant links to the thread. (Think you have to be logged in for those Netflix links to work.)
Does anyone know if Ann-Margret will be a presenter on Sunday night's telecast? Usually, the winners in the guest performer categories get to present on the network telecast.
I read on "The Envelope" that Ann-Margret will present an Emmy on Sunday night's telecast, as will fellow guest performer winners Neil Patrick Harris, John Lithgow and Betty White.

Love Ann-Margrock! (I grew up watching the Flintstones and called her that for the longest time).
Some people on-line are critical of her singing on this reprise of BBB, but she was playing a teen afterall. She's always had a great voice. Today's pop star twerking doesn't hold a candle to the charisma of Ann using just a jiggle and hair-toss.
