Do you think the cinematography will be something like RENT's or more like Sweeney Todd's?

I would guess something like RENT's... Possibly like You're Welcome America?

(To be honest, I actually like the way their b-rolls are filmed)

I would bet it will be a lot like the Shrek B-Roll, which I love.

Ok, good good.
(As long as they're not dubbed. UGH.)

I doubt anyone will be dubbed with the exception of Chris Sieber. He was sick & not of best voice for the filming.

Also, the reason the dubbing is so bad on the clips is because they used the CR to do it.

Well I knew about the cast recording being used in the b-roll, but even still, his voice being dubbed will totally kill the magic for me, ya know?
Man I really need to pre-order this now.
Do you think it'll come out before the holidays? I mean the show's closing after then, but it would make a sh*tload from the theater community then.

I would bet the Holidays or April/May to coincide with Shrek 4.

I'm hoping for holidays... I can't wait that long!
(Maybe they'll only sell them in the theater during the holidays and then release it later on?)

"Do you think the cinematography will be something like RENT's or more like Sweeney Todd's?"

I'm not sure what you mean by this..and by Sweeney Todd are you referring to the 1982 DVD?

There is no way Shrek will be as poorly filmed as Sweeney Todd was...that was almost 30 years ago.

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

I meant will it be as fast paced and choppy as RENT was or as steady and slow moving like Sweeney. haha Sorry for confusionism

Shrek isn't quick & gritty as RENT.

In the two press notes they say "unique packaging", and someone has mentioned Fugobi. Do you think they may release it in 3D?

3D really doesn't work on DVD.

Well when I mentioned Fugobi, that's when I thought it might be in theaters. I hope to god the DVD isn't in 3D... I bought Coraline looking forward to watching it in 3D because I loved it in the theater and it was awful on a smaller screen.

You know people say this may hurt the tour, but look at Legally Blonde, they aired that on television, which I am sure someone had taped it, The tour is just entering its second year after quite a successful run this past year. I think the DVD may spark interest for people to see it actually LIVE onstage.

Yeah but Legally Blonde was only shown 4 times & the people they are trying to get to the tour aren't going to even bother scouring the internet for a copy.

The DVD won't hurt the tour, kids won't care- they'll want to see it when it comes to their town AND get the DVD at the end. They're going to make a profit of this.

DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg added: "We filmed the show about 10 days or so ago. And at some point to be determined, we will release it as a DVD. We think there'll be some nice profits."

Wondering what's "Some point to be determinded"...

As TaleofTwo stated a few post down, This wont hurt tour sales at all.

You will see the parents in the lobby asking kids what they want (CD/T SHIRT/DVD) all even before they saw the show.

Going to shows as much as I do I ALWAYS see the familys buying cast recordings, shirts, etc and they didnt even see the show yet.

just throwing this out there. I really really hope Shrek the Musical will get a Blu ray Release as well. High Definition would do the set, costumes, songs, So much justice.

Hey guys, I know that this is only from their B-roll, but this just re-enforces the fact that I love the way it's shot!
