What are some musicals that have had little-to-no-life after their original production? Meaning the writers wrote it, it premiered, perhaps has been re-tweaked and again had a production, but has not been produced since and is not available for licensing?

Lestat hasn't really had any life since its closing. It has that awful concept recording, but that's about it.

I'm sure CARRIE would be done whenever possible by every regional theatre company to college campus. That's IF the rights holders would relinquish their firm control on it.
All productions that have been mounted were done illegally.

I'm upset nothing ever came of The Opposite of Sex, I wanted to atleast hear some of the music. Kerry Butler played Dede, right? She's a bit more recognizable now, but I wonder if she's getting to old to play the character if they wanna bank on her success in Xanadu for a remount somewhere.

this review here isn't so bad, makes it sound like a mix between next to normal and The Threepenny Opera. Maybe with some tweaking it could('ve) work(ed).

Had an OBC recording, won the Tony Award but didn't have much life afterward (i.e. didn't have the same success as its contemporaries JCS, Godspell and Hair). A production was done in Central Park a few years ago, but not even that revived interest in the show.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

All productions of Carrie (obviously not the 3 days on Broadway) were done illegally?
Seems most aren't really aware of this, but CARRIE didn't play just a couple of performances. It actually played 16 preview performances and 5 regular performances... so that means CARRIE was performed on Broadway (at the Virginia Theatre) a grand total of 21 times before shuttering forever.
