I was at the dress rehearsal, and the Jeremy Piven joke went over so much better then. I'm SO happy they aired the sketch, me and my friend were dying in the studio.

Liza! When she said "my two best friends are a tomato and Liza Minnelli" I freaked out because I knew it was coming!

Actually, I didn't think it was fabulous, but I'm glad they did it. Almost died at the Piven reference!!!

And yes, most of America didn't get it.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

The chandelier was pretty accurate if I do say so myself

No kidding! Whoever designed this sketch did their homework...everything looked pretty accurate to me. It looks like they chose their pieces to actually resemble the show--from the chandelier, which looked like the one used in the production, to Mark's costume, to Elphaba's, to Kate Monster...even down to using a white bowtie (NOT BLACK) on the Phantom's tuxedo. There are clearly a few Broadway fans at SNL. Nicely done!

So far this has been one of the better SNL episodes in a while. I'm a sucker for Penelope and that sketch definitely delivered.

Loved it! I haven't laughed out loud at SNL for anything other than Tina Fey's Palin in a loooonnnnnnng time!

Only 1 thing ... they went with the racist dialogue and I was SURE we were going to hear a few bars of "Everyone's a little bit racist."

^agreed. I will watch anything he is in, even if it isn't that great (Harold & Kumar, anyone?), but this is hilarious!

SNL told off Prop 8 with the Paul Rudd show, and they supported broadway on this one. :)

I thought that sketch was pretty good, but as a whole the show just isn't that great. NPH is great, but I wish they just let him do his opening monologue by himself. And give him better material.

lol it's like super-blinged. I like her music but she seemed really nervous, or maybe that's just how she sounds and I never noticed before? Eh.

<333333333333333333333333'd it!!!!!!

That sketch was such a theatrenerdgasm for me, I'm always excited when B'way gets to exists in other mediums (like today, my roomate was watching the movie Loser and the leads went to see Cabaret at 54, I flipped!) it makes me feel like we're not so closed off to the rest of the world as we sometimes think.

And Liza! LOL "Shhhhhhecks and the city syle. I'll buy you all the...non-alcoholic beer you can handle." "Oh good, I'm really thirsty." "Really? I'm thirstier!"
re: Broadway Skit on SNL

You're reminding me of people you hear at the movies asking questions every ten seconds, "Who is that? Why is that guy walking down the street? Who's that lady coming up to him? Uh-oh, why did that car go by? Why is it so dark in this theater?" - FindingNamo on strummergirl

"If artists were machines, then I'm just a different kind of machine...I'd probably be a toaster. Actually, I'd be a toaster oven because they're more versatile. And I like making grilled cheese" -Regina Spektor

"That's, like, twelve shows! ...Or seven." -Crazy SA Fangirl

"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott
