Sorry, allofmylife, it was NOT a close call. It was nowhere near a close call. It wasn't even a call. The fire DIDN'T happen four days earlier, and even if it had it would not have been a close call, so the breathless hysteria really wasn't necessary. The fire was contained quickly. I have many friends who live near there, know many people working on Wicked - the show is on for tonight - if it had been a close call, or any other kind of call, it would not be. I know this is a town filled with Drama, but really, it was a fire - it was put out - this isn't Malibu or Canyon Country.

As to the building that DID burn, it really hasn't been the same since it was a Hody's in the late 50s. Maybe if they'd put something decent in that location at any point in the last thirty years, it might not have burned.
