The best thing about a blooper is watching a professional cover it or deal with it. Sounds like the Wicked girls are taking the easy way out. Or they are not quick thinkers, and can't come up with anything IN CHARACTER that would start the action again.

There were some fine TABOO Bloopers....like the night the Wedding Dress wouldn't stay on Raul, who finished the scene bare-chested & sending up his EMCEE role in "CABARET"....or the time the pick-up scene between Young Boy George & Marcus had the scenery problem....the Urinals Set stayed onstage instead of the Street scene....once again, Esparza to the rescue with a few well-placed one-liners

I think Live Theater is great because ANYTHING can happen

One day at "JOE EGG", Eddie Izzard could no longer stand the Head-Set loudly humming from some Elderly Person up front. He made a bunch of wisecracks about it till both he & Victoria cracked up; but before it went TOOOOO out of place, Victoria reeled him in....

LMAO

Its all in the moment ... as long as the performers are quick about their reactions

Hugh Jackman dropped one of his marrachas (sp?) and it fell behind the long staircase during the big finale. He had an expression like oops!! on his face and ran down the stairs and picked up the marracha and said "I've got it!!!" and carried on. The audience was hysterical and loving him.

When I saw Wicked it was perfect. It was the last performance by Taye Diggs and Idina was very emotional with him. It was very moving.

Oh Gawd thats right....when I saw HUGH, he was having trouble with his ROCKETTES TUX outfit....he said if they "...couldn't get it on, he would do the number naked"

You can imagine the Roars of Approval for THAT idea

I think bloopers to some extent are fine, as long as the lines are in character. Maybe occasionally something like what's been happening is fine- it is live theater after all- but just going out onstage and breaking character for everything that happens isn't fair to the audience.

When I was in The Pajama Game recently, so many things went wrong on opening night- I put my shirt on inside out and went onstage like that by accident, mikes fell off, Hines' pants zipper got stuck which held up the scene...we didn't lose it like these girls are doing.

this may be a stupid question, but is there any possibility that all of these bloopers and breaking of characters could affect a tony win? do ya'll think it is even a factor? just wondering.
