I imagine they would give "Emma" to either a Broadway/lesser name actress and downplay the role like they have for the tour.
I don't think casting Lucy will be the problem - I had thought they would try to attract someone like Lady Gaga or another big pop star as the role has the best songs in the score (ie Bring on the Men) and is "fun"/"flashy" to an extent.
Casting a good Jekyll/Hyde will make or break it, however. You need to not only get a great vocalist and actor, but someone who can have two dual personalities effectively.
Lady Gaga would be just spectacular, and she is a brilliant actress as well. I'm hoping that if they cast a major star like her as Lucy they would get a lesser known but brilliant actor for the title role like Ramin.
Does Lady Gaga have a legit voice though? Can she "straight" sing without the affected pop voice? Point me to some clips that show me she can and I'll love the idea.
Caitlinette, Here are just a couple of clips which showcase her magnificent vocal abilities. The last one is a compilation of her best belted high notes which is simply spectacular.
Katherine McPhee huge box office draw, really is that a joke?
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.
