...except that GM and Chrysler *were* pushed into a managed bankruptcy. Neither would have turned around as fast as they have if they just got the loan money without all the clean-washing benefits of the bankruptcy action.

Now if he's trying to say Obama was his puppet then Obama should just throw all of Romney's economic attacks back in his face.

Yes they were pushed into bankrupcy however, the billions in loans helped in part, to pay off some of their debts, thereby keeping some of the businesses, and suppliers that are support services from also running into problems.

Romney was pushing for a managed bankruptcy with private support, without intervention from the federal government. Problem was, the entire economy was teetering on the brink of collapse, and there was no private money. Obama and Bush (yes, Bush) handled the auto industry just right, and they deserve credit. Romney deserves none.

This is poor politics. No one beyond Fox 'News' is going to give him a pass on this one. It will play terribly with independents, and in some important states like Ohio.

I heard another take on this from a friend last night. He said Romney voters should be concerned. Anyone with memory problems like this should not be running for the highest office. He actually thinks Romney is delusional and suffers from some mental illness. I think the Democrats should bring this up. Mitt can't remember an editorial he wrote just a few years ago where his position was just the opposite? I know I was only kidding, but how long before Mitt Romney starts taking credit for killing Bin Laden himself? All of Obama's accomplishments are suddenly Mitt Romney's accomplishments. The man is either a terrible liar, a shameless flip flopper who will do and say ANYTHING to get elected or he is mentally unstable and forgets easily.

I don't believe Romney will win but the vast majority of Americans don't pay close attention to politics. When he twists the truth a little they won't know the difference unless they really look into it. Beyond the auto states and industry employees most of the nation showed they hate the US automakers and still rail against government involvement.

Well, this is not really a lie, or a flip flop, but DAMN, this guy is stupid!

"What could have been a game changing moment in Mitt Romneys campaign turned into a horrendous gaffe Tuesday afternoon when the former governor was having lunch with a few of his supporters. Romney was hoping to show America how well he relates to the average working American by having a press recorded lunch at a local pancake house in rural Kentucky where the primary elections were taking place. However, what turned from a nice preplanned lunch with common-folk conversation ended up getting off track when one of Romneys supporters asked him how he was so certain he would win. Romney turned to the man seated on his left and seemingly forgetting the ten plus reporters in the room said, Well between you and me, we have to think about the reality of the situation. Obama is a popular guy and his supporters are hell-bent in getting him reelected. There is one thing that his campaign seems to keep forgetting over and over, and that is how many Americans cant stand the guy for an obvious reason. Of course Ill win, Im the white guy.
