Alrighty, for those who want to see Mermaid, and want to know what Flounder their seeing, here's the place to look! I can get the weekly schedule during previews, and then whenever the show starts up there is said to be a more set-in-stone schedule.

Honestly does it matter? Is it a big enough part to make a difference?
That’s like saying “What Chip will I see in Beauty?”

And there appears to be a pattern.

myManCape...why must we belittle FinalDestination for offering us information that many will find quite helpful. When I saw the show I was hoping for JJ, but I saw Cody. It would have been nice if I would have known beforehand.

Thank you FinalDestination for your insight!

Thanks, mywonderwa11. And no, Someday, I don't have the schedule yet.

When I get it, I will post it. :)

I did forget to post the one for this week however.

Here it is:

Saturday matinee- Cody
Saturday night- JJ
Sunday matinee- Cody

This is for the remainder of this week.

I will post next week's when I find it out.

It's my understanding that neither will be there when the show opens. They are currently holding auditions to replace both of them.

myManCape, it actually is a big enough role to warrant an interest. He actually has his own song with the sisters backing him up. It's a great number. I saw Cody, and he was one of the two or three things that I LOVED about the show. He was great, and I am sad to hear that he won't be in the show for the opening, if that's true.

Week of 12-10 schedule:

Tuesday Night-JJ Singleton
Wed Matinee-Cody Hanford
Wed Evening-JJ Singleton
Thursday Evening-Cody Hanford
Friday Evening-JJ Singleton
Saturday Matinee-Cody Hanford
Saturday Night-JJ Singleton
Sunday Matinee-Cody Hanford

Also, it's true. Cody and JJ are leaving the show soon! No official date has been announced yet. So, we'll just have to wait and see. It'll suck to see them go. They're both freakishly talented.

I couldn't agree more. I know the family of one of the kids, and I didn't say this to them, but.... On the one hand, they're incredibly fortunate to be watching their child in a Broadway show. (And they don't appear to be too upset about this - maybe a little disappointed but still on cloud nine to be having the Broadway experience during previews).

But on the other hand, there's just no way to get around the fact that the kids are being treated somewhat cruelly by Disney. I mean - to contract a child to open a Broadway show (dream of a lifetime, right?), have the kid rehearse and perform out of town, do all the previews, and then cut them from the show right before the opening - it just seems wrong to me.

The weirdest thing about all this is that if the strike hadn't happened, both Flounders would have performed through the opening. But now the opening has been moved to January 10, and the new Flounders are going to start rotating into the show around Christmas.

Disney would probably argue that the relatively few days between Dec. 25 and Jan. 10 are crucial, since both the original Flounders' voices are apparently in the process of changing. But with both kids generating good word-of-mouth, I really wish they'd keep 'em - at least through the opening.

It's an unfortunate situation.

We should petition this BIG-TIEM. It's horrendous.

wow that is shocking! That must really stink big time! I bet they are going to hire two really tiny boys.

What I am most surprised about is that they are getting rid of both of them, I would have thought they might have just let go of the one that is older and nearing puberty.

A petition wouldn't do much at all.

I mean the kids have to meet a certain criteria, and they have a little room to change (since they want to cast Flounders around the age of 10-12). But, now, both boys are 13 years old. They're getting taller (obviously that would cause issues for the costume designer to have to keep redoing the costumes), and the voices are changing.

I haven't heard either one lately, so I wouldn't know first hand. Hopefully, they'll both move on to bigger and better things. Until they leave let's just enjoy them while we have them (and thank the Lord for the cast recording.)

Oh! A question, who do all of you want on the cast recording?

My opinion record one kid, put him in the song in the track listing and use the recording of the other as a bonus track or whatever. I mean, considering their run has been cut short by the stupid strike, they both deserve a little something more, aye?

I think that would be a great idea, so are they to be considered part of the original Broadway cast even though the show hasnt officially opened yet, or are the two new kids going to be considered The original broadway cast?

Has disney changed the date of the actual recording of the CD and the opening night? or just the opening night?

Just the opening night. The strike didn't affect the recording (or won't I should say). It is set to be out 2-5-08.

And technically, yes both boys are the ORIGINAL Broadway cast. :)

I've seen both and you can tell that both of their voices are getting ready to change. Both are really talented and it'll be sad to see them go, but I guess if their voices are changing, there's not much that can be done. I hate to see them not make it to opening night though.

As for the cast recording, either one will be great. JJ can sing great but his acting doesn't quite match it and Cody is just the opposite. With that being said though, either will do just fine.

Maybe, but they probably both have "out clauses" in their contracts. Every Gavroche, for instance, was immediately let go once he hit a certain height. The Chitty kids could be let go if they ever got too tan, because they were supposed to be British street urchins who lived in a sewer. It may not be all that fair, but if the boys' voices are changing, there is nothing they can do.

For what it's worth, i saw JJ Singleton, and didn't notice his voice cracking at all.

FOAnatic- Cody Hanford, who I know personally (I've done shows with him; he's a great performner.) was in WALK THE LINE for about 5 seconds.

Well, that is really sad. I really enjoyed Cody's performance when I saw the show last week. But from what I've gathered, Disney has a messed up way of doing things.

I have a family friend who played Mrs. Potts for several years on Broadway and she had an interesting explanation as to why Beauty closed and Mermaid opened in the same theater. I guess Disney could be a little corrupt.

But nevertheless, I loved The Little Mermaid and I wish I could go back and catch JJ's performance. I guess I'll just have to look forward to the cast recording to see if I can hear a little bit of JJ.
