Shows You Grew to Dislike After Being Involved With a Production of It?  Jan 6 2018, 04:39:07 PM

Elf the Musical. I was in the ensemble of this show about 2 years ago, and since the directors made really questionable casting choices, and the show did not end up as good as I thought it probably could have been, I really can't stand listening to the cast album or hearing about it anymore. The movie is bad enough to have to endure during the Christmas season without reminding me of this show in which I was a part of.

a christmas story cd  Dec 23 2017, 10:02:56 PM

All I know is that it's available for streaming on Spotify, iTunes, and Amazon... I would expect them to release a CD form at Target, as they have done this with previous live musical broadcasts.

Best And Worst Jukebox Musical Through The Years  Dec 21 2017, 10:26:18 PM

Best: Disaster! the Musical, Jersey Boys

Worst: Mamma Mia

Comparing Cast Albums  Dec 21 2017, 10:23:49 PM

I don't have a lot of duplicates, but I definitely have favorites: examples:

-- I actually like the cast recording of the recent South Pacific revival moire than the original production or movie version. The orchestrations seem better, the music lusher, especially in the goose bumps generating overture; and, as much as I like Mary Martin, Kelli O'Hara has a much better voice.

-- I prefer the original Hello Dolly far more thanthe current version: orchestration

Oh, me too. It's interesting to me how different real English accents sound compared to the Broadway English accents. And also how much crazier Lesli Margherita seems than Josie Walker.

Comparing Cast Albums  Dec 21 2017, 08:18:39 PM

Personally, I like to compare and contrast various versions of a show's cast album. For example, The Sound of Music. I love the entire 1965 Julie Andrews version, but I can really only tolerate specific songs on the OBC recording with Mary Martin. Do any of you enjoy comparing different versions of cast albums/soundtracks? If so, which ones?

Who do you think is the 2017 broadway star of the year  Dec 10 2017, 11:26:31 PM

Seriously? Not everyone has to have the same opinion as you. Apparently it’s okay to insult people on this board if they say anything against anyone involved with Dear Evan Hansen or Hamilton.

PREACH. I don't think your response warranted any negative backlash like that. In my opinion, it was civil and appropriate. Sometimes people need to realize

CAROUSEL or MY FAIR LADY?  Dec 10 2017, 09:17:22 PM

I love My Fair Lady. It was one of the first musicals I was exposed to when I was about 3/4 years old, and I have loved it ever since. However, that being said, the cast for "Carousel" can't be beat: Jessie Mueller and Joshua Henry. I'd probably choose to see Carousel over My Fair Lady, simply because I've seen MFL numerous times.

I know that Hamilton is most likely going to keep running for a while, plus it's going to keep expanding (longer tours, more community productions) and I believe De

re: What shows did you do in high school?  Sep 9 2017, 06:47:38 PM

As I went to 2 high schools, and only the first one actually cared about theatre, I only did:

A Midsummer Night's Dream- Fairy

How to Succeed...- Ensemble

Grease- Ensemble

The year after I left, they ended up doing "Cabaret" and "Beauty and the Beast," both which I would have loved to have been a part of.

BERNADETTE is DOLLY - official  Sep 9 2017, 06:43:41 PM

I, for one, am excited to see what she does with the role. I think the role of Dolly Levi is much more suited to her than that of Mama Rose in Gypsy, or Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun. I think Bernadette brought what she could to those 2 roles, but overall wasn't 100% right for them (although I have to admit, after seeing a video of La LuPone in a production of Annie Get Your Gun, I'd have to say Bernie was a way better choice). Bernie always sounds amazing on the cast recordings

Best and Worst Theater Experiences  Apr 18 2016, 09:29:43 PM

Worst theatre experience: I went to see a production of Shrek the Musical and there were about 25 kids more than should have been on stage. At any time. None of them knew what they were doing, save 3.

Best thing I heard all day... I think it would be hilarious, yet wildly inappropriate for Barbra to just do the whole "Hamilton" soundtrack.

Musicals Most Love But You Don't  Sep 9 2015, 03:34:03 PM

Grease, Aida, Jesus Christ Superstar, 13, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee... I just don't think these held much appeal for me. Don't get me wrong, the music for Grease is pretty good, it's just super overrated.

Which Musical would you love NBC or FOX to do live next?  Sep 8 2015, 12:27:54 AM

Big River is so super underrated; not a lot of the people I know have heard of it. I personally just want Laura Benanti in another live musical. I wish Newsies' rights would be able to be bought, but unfortunately, Disney owns the world.

Underused Audition Material  Sep 7 2015, 11:49:42 PM

I don't know about these, but here goes...

Me- Beauty and the Beast the Musical

What Kind of Fool Am I- Stop the World I Want to Get Off

They Call the Wind Mariah- Paint Your Wagon

The Girl That I Marry- Annie Get Your Gun

Goodbye Old Girl- Damn Yankees

This is the Moment- Jekyll & Hyde

Where is the Life That Late I Led- Kiss Me Kate

Which Musical would you love to see NBC or FOX do live next?  Sep 5 2015, 02:52:25 PM

A Christmas Story has a fantastic score! I love it a lot. Also, White Christmas (I forget who suggested it) and Guys and Dolls. I agree with  JoseLee_ to the extent of doing something that hasn't been adapted millions of times, so obviously Annie or something like that wouldn't work. Annie Get Your Gun or something classic would be interesting to me.

Which Musical would you love to see NBC or FOX do live next?  Sep 4 2015, 02:32:32 PM

Awesome ideas! I didn't think too much about Guys and Dolls and Bye Bye Birdie particularly, but I think those would be fun to see live. Plus, there is a large ensemble for BBB (so more people could potentially audition for it). I agree with Oliver! being a little more mature than what these networks would typically go for. Although it is a wonderful show.

Side note: I heard about a possible film version of Guys and Dolls with Henry Cavill as Sky Masterson, James Marsden as Na
