She Loves Me - I feel in love with this score form the first listening and never tire of hearing it.
City of Angels - God how I wish I'd seen this, can't believe I walked past the theater where this was playing in the West End constantly and had no idea how amazing the scor was.
The Light In the Piazza - the score flows so well, can't wait to see the show on 3rd December.
Oh nearly forgot
Dear World - Again fell in love with this on first listening.

Goodness, I booked a ticket for the show last July for Dec 3rd and planned a trip from London to see the show.
That was pretty close, I'd have been very upset not to see the original Margaret and Cara. I'd have loved to see Matt though.

How about Mildred Pierce can you imaging the Mother/Daughter songs, I think they'd appeal to all the Carrie fans out there and there would also be another great song about Hot Pies to please the sweeney fans. You could also go back to the book and include the part where Veda starts becoming a famous opera singer, very Glitter and be Gay.

Theatrical Landladies -Glad you agree, I can't remember the bit with the lift, see this is why I'd love to see that production again, I hate to think what else I might have forgotten. I do remember how wonderful "Mirror, Mirror" was, that was always one of the highlights for me. Can you imagine what it would cost to stage that production now!!

I just happened to be thinking about the London Follies a couple of days ago as I went to see "High Society" at the Shaftsbury Theatre where the London production was staged.
I loved the London Follies and always got a huge thrill when the party set transformed into the Loveland set. What I wouldn't give to see that again. I thought the original London cast was just perfect though I preferred Eartha later in the run as Carlotta. Diana Rigg was fantastic, though I don't think this comes

The Mrs Lovett costume is the Act2 costume first seen during "More Hot Pies". From what I can see in the drawing it appears pretty much identical to the London costume. The costume is a variation of her first act costume with obvious over the top changes which indicate Mrs Lovetts favouable financial situation and possible the intesification of her love for Sweeney with the strong use of red. Intrestingly the red used is a very stong blood red!!.

I saw her perform at the Cameron Mancintosh celebration "Hey Mr Producer" at the Lyceum Theatre in London. She performed the role of Christine in the Phantom segment of the show and her voice was amazing. She sounded perfect and extremly confident which is quite an achievment considering she was perfoming in front of the Queen and Prince Phillip. Has anyone got her album? was wondering what it was like.

Great seat are you on the left aisle (B1)? thats the seat I have for 2nd Dec. My flight from London lands at 2.30pm and I have to dash to the hotel dump my case and get to the theatre. Can't wait, this production and Light in the Piazza are the reason I'm coming over.

Patti Lupone is an amazing performer. I'll always remember how wonderful she was in the original staging of Les Miserables at the Barbican theatre. What an emotional performance, no one left the theatre with a dry eye. She was also superb in Sunset Boulevard, I remember sitting in the 2nd or 3rd row centre as she was belting out "As if we never said Goodbye" and the power of her voice was incredible, you could imagine the glasses rattling in the theatre bar. I can't wait, am seeing it Dec 2nd. If the production is equally as good as the London production you'll be amazed how good it is. If as I suspect its better you'll probably never see a better Sweeney Todd.
The orchestrations did not seem lacking even when used to the full Broadway recording, the orchestrator did an incredible job considering the small number of instruments, they made ever note count.

I have to agree with you that nobody could fling themselves more into the role of Margaret White than Betty Buckley, but I was suprised just how good Cook was in the role, I expected her to just sound pretty.

I was wondering if any of you saw Barbara Cook when she starred in the Stratford run of Carrie. Unfortunately I decided to wait assuming it would transfer to the West End after Broadway!!
Having heard the Broadway and Stratford casts I was surprised how many changes were made by time the show reached Broadway.
I love Betty Buckley's Mrs. White and was curious how Barbara Cook tackled the role. "Open Your Heart" sung by Cook is beautiful as is "Evening Prayers". "Eve Was Weak" w

I'm thrilled to see from the posts that a revival of "A Little Night Music" is in the planning. Does anyone know if the revival is due to be staged at any point in London. Only wondered as Trevor Nunn is due to direct. Can't say I'm thrilled at the prospect of Glenn Close, I always thought her singing was somewhat lacking, incredible actress though. I'd love to see Meryl Streep, I'd be on the fist plane out of the UK for that.
