Wetumpka Depot Players to Stage LOVE, LOSS AND WHAT I WORE

By:

Pull out the scarves and boots and get ready for fall at the Wetumpka Depot Players theatre with Love, Loss and What I Wore. Based on the best selling book of the same title by Ilene Beckerman and written by sisters Nora Ephron ( Julie & Julia) and Delia Ephron ( You've Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle) the play is a perfect Girl's Night Out!

Love, Loss and What I Wore is a scrapbook of side-splitting stories about unfortunate prom dresses, high heels, short skirts and the existential state of having nothing to wear. The show uses clothing and accessories and the memories they trigger to tell funny and often poignant stories creating an endearing theatre experience. "The play is just a closet full of laughs'" said director, Kim Mason. "The colorful and touching stories are relevant to women of all ages."

In keeping the style of the New York production, the three week run will feature a different set of talented and diverse actresses each weekend. Taking the stage opening weekend, September 17-19 are Sharon DeMuth, Susan Woody, Kristy Meanor, Elizabeth Bowles, Katie Crews and Lizzy Woodall. The second cast, performing September 24-27 features Sue Ellen Gerrells, Gayle Sandlin, Leslie Bailey, Elizabeth Bowles, Leanna Wallace and Rachel Russo. The final weekend Teri Sweeney, Layne Holley, Mary Katherine Moore, Alicia Ruth Jackson, Jaymee Vowell and Savanah Rigby close the production October 1-3.

As an added special event associated with the production there will be a one night only Love, Loss After Hours Cabaret on September 19 immediately following the show, featuring members from all three casts telling their own personal stories about fashion successes and blunders as well as music. The Wetumpka Depot Players also are partnering with Family Promises and invite patrons to bring in gently used items of women's clothing that would be appropriate for disadvantaged women entering the work force.

Show dates are September 17-19, 24-26, October 1-3 all at 7:30pm and Sunday September 27 at 2pm. Tickets ( $12 and $15) may be purchased by calling 334.868.1440 or wetumpkadepot.com. The box office located at 300 S Main St. is open Wednesday -Friday, 9am-3pm.
