Ticket Sales Start For 2009 TAKE THE STAGE Talent Competition

The Whole Backstage Theatre, which is celebrating its 40th year as one of North Alabama’s most active and vibrant community theaters,  is happy to announce the contestants and the opening of ticket sales for Take the Stage, an amateur talent competition with performers from all over the Tennessee Valley.

The 2009 Take the Stage talent competition will take place the first weekend in June at the Whole Backstage Theatre in Guntersville, with preliminary rounds on Friday and Saturday, June 5 and 6 at 7PM, and the final competition round on Sunday, June 7 at 2PM. Tickets are $12 for the preliminary rounds and $15 for the final round.

Twenty-two acts will compete in the preliminary rounds.  Acts will be scored by a panel of judges composed of local and regional representatives of education, business, and the entertainment industry.  The ten top scoring acts from the preliminary rounds will go to the finals to vie for first, second and third place cash and prizes totaling at least $1,000.

The contestants for this year’s competition are:  Albertville – Payne Pirando; Altoona – Dillon Dyer; Arab – BriAnna Moore; Danville – Alaina Wiley; Decatur – Anna Brooke Higdon; Grant – Buckshot (band), Mohr 4 (musical group); Guntersville – Blake Brock & Kori Makaris, Steven Jex, Megan Burr, Caroline Norton; Hollywood - Taylor Levvorne & Jared Wright ; Huntsville – Anna Hawkins; New Market – Holly Helms; Oneonta – Melissa Lawler; Rainsville – Megan Mitchell; Section – Harley & Pacey Carson, Avery Fairbanks, Cassie Hancock, Kimi Lee; Town Creek – Tiffany Woodard; Union Grove – Gail Royster.
