With its next production, the comedy "Morningside," Terrific New Theatre presents the worst baby shower EVER - in two acts! As a bonus, the opening-night audience will enjoy a talk-back and meet-and-greet with Atlanta-based playwright Topher Payne following the March 21 performance. The production runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as Sunday afternoons, through April 7.

Here's the thing about baby showers: No one actually wants to be there. But there are certain rituals we follow for the sake of tradition - and a gift registry. In "Morningside," nine women have gathered at Grace Driscoll's beautifully appointed home, fully expecting to go through the motions of social niceties. But an unforeseen event in Grace's life, and a few unexpected guests, send the party careening - hilariously - into uncharted territory. Simmering resentment, cutthroat professional conflict, and fierce battles of will ... these are 21st-century Southern women, and they have no interest in blessing your heart!

Directed by Bethe Ensey, the production stars Daley Browning, Melissa Bush Hallmark, Elise Mayfield, Julie Meadows, Rachael Pike, Jacinta Sole, Penny Thomas, Laura Elton Towns and Harper Wood. Rounding out the creative team are set designer Mandy Thomas and lighting designer Scott Littleton. Tam DeBolt is now in her third season as TNT's artistic director.

"Morningside" will perform Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2:30 p.m., from March 21-April 7, 2019. www.terrificnewtheatre.com
