Red Mountain Theatre Company will bring The MLK Project to stage April 11-14, 2013, as part of the 50th Anniversary commemoration of the Civil Rights Movement. This new work is a collaboration with the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, and stars RMTC favorite Cecil Washington (The Color Purple, Rent).

The MLK Project's first act features dramatic readings of "An Appeal for Law and Order and Common Sense" and "A Call for Unity," two letters written by a group of clergymen from which the famous "Letter from a Birmingham Jail" was inspired during DR. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s incarceration in 1963. The second act, written by Cheryl L. Davis, gives audiences a thought-provoking, humorous and inspiring glimpse into the state of civil right issues today.

Show times are Thursday-Saturday, 7:30 PM, and Sunday, 2:00 PM. Tickets are $30-35 (senior, group and student rates are available) and can be purchased by calling 205-324-2424 or visiting www.redmountaintheatre.org.
