ASF's Peter Pan to be Extended Through The Holiday 12/26-31

By:

Peter Pan the Musical, the biggest selling show in the history of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, will be extended through the holiday season, Dec. 26-31. With the opening weekend nearly completely sold out, ASF has decided to accommodate anticipated demand by adding nine shows, four of which are matinees. Peter Pan the Musical's first public show takes place tonight, Nov. 19.

In 2007, Peter Pan the Musical drew 40,000 patrons and grossed over $1 million.

The additional shows will take place on Dec. 26 at 2 and 7:30 p.m., Dec. 28 at 2 and 7:30 p.m., Dec. 29 at 2 and 7:30 p.m., Dec. 30 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 31 at 2 and 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for all Peter Pan the Musical performances are on sale now and are available through the ASF box office, on line at www.asf.net or by calling 1.800.841.4273. ASF is located at 1 Festival Drive in the heart of Montgomery's beautiful Blount Cultural Park.

Peter Pan the Musical features veteran Sarah Litzsinger in the title role and ASF favorite Rodney Clark returns as Captain Hook. Litzsinger has performed on Broadway and in national tours as Eva Peron in Evita, Eponine/Cosette in Les Miserables and has the distinction of being
the longest running Belle in Disney's Beauty and the Beast on Broadway. Clark most recently starred as Old Man in the ASF holiday hit A Christmas Story and as Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant in the world premiere and tour of Bear Country. Clark also performed the role of Captain Hook in ASF's 2007 production of Peter Pan the Musical.

Emily Kinney, who recently starred in the film It's Complicated, Broadway's Spring Awakening and the national tour of the Tony Award-winning play August: Osage County will perform as Wendy.

Montgomery area children in the production include Greyson Hammock, Tyler Lewin, Breanna Newton, Savannah Rigby, Crispen South and Joseph Sims.

Others in the cast include Kevin Callaghan, Kevin Curtis, Lenny Daniel, Richard Gatta, Erik Gullberg, Tara L. Herwig, Tyler Jakes, Eleni Kanalos, Caitlin McGee, Anthony Napoletano, Adam Pelligrene, Seth D. Rabinowitz, Roy San Filipo, Lynna Schmidt, Billy Sharpe, Roger Preston Smith, Eric Shorey, Maria Totten, Corey Triplett, Brett Warnke and Kent Zimmerman.

In addition to Sherman, the artistic team includes choreographer Karen Azenberg who has been a part of several other landmark shows at ASF including West Side Story, Beehive and Cowgirls. Tom Griffin, who served as musical director for the 2007 production of Peter Pan the Musical as well as the ASF holiday hit A Christmas Carol the Musical, will return for the Silver Anniversary production.

Also on the artistic team are John Manfredi (Fight Choreographer), John Iacovelli (Set), Patrick Holt (Costumes), Paul Wonsek (Lights) and Richelle Thompson (Sound). Tanya Searle will stage manage the musical.

The Alabama Shakespeare Festival is among the largest Shakespeare theatres in the world. Designated as The State Theatre of Alabama, ASF has been located in Montgomery since 1985 when it moved from Anniston as a result of Mr. and Mrs. Wynton M. Blount's gift of a performing arts complex set in the 250-acre Wynton M. Blount Cultural Park. This program/project has been made possible by grants from the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
