Born 65 years ago, the Théâtre National de la Communauté française in Brussels is the first French-speaking theatre in the country. Today it is directed by Jean-Louis Colinet. The number of its productions (up to ten in a season), the quality of the many associated artists, its wide-reaching renown (over three hundred works on tour every year), the importance that it attaches to the work of young creators, the diversity of its international artistic partners and the dialogue which it fosters with its different audiences are the theatre’s strong points. Its programme is open to a wide and varied public and is above all based on innovative and committed drama. It is open to the realities of the world and to the major preoccupations that we meet today. The National theatre in Brussels is funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Federation Wallonia Brussels.
